Ubisoft: Be patient for Beyond Good and Evil 2

Ubisoft has confirmed that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in development and that fans just need to be patient.

GamesCom 2010: Ubisoft has confirmed that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in production and that fans just need to be patient.

Ubisoft is willing to invest as much time as it takes in Michel Ancel's sequel, it seems, as Ubisoft CEO says that the game won't be released until it is perfect.

"We were, as we are, working on the game," Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot told Kotaku at GamesCom 2010 in Germany.

Guillemot seemed to recognise the reputation that the original game had gathered was worth a lot, though he acknowledged that the game was a bit of a flop when it came to sales.

"I would say the game was very well appreciated by the people who played it," said Guillemot. "But we didn't have enough people when it was launched. After its time it become a very recognised product."

Unveiled back at Ubidays 2008, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is the next game from Rayman creator Michel Ancel, who is reported to be using a small development team to help preserve his creative vision. The original, also developed by Ancel, is one of our favourite games.

Damn, still need to play the first one, I know Joe has recommended it many a time. Too many games, too little time.

Michel Ancel's says, "that the game won't be released until it is perfect."

I take it the release will be without UBISofts latest DRM then?

First one is amazing. A classic certainly.

Really? I've gotten like half way through the first and was just 'meh'. I really don't see what I'm missing here.
Which reminds me, there was a lot of talk about Thief 2 being so great here a couple months back I picked that up during the Steam Sale, and it's another half finished game I have on my HDD. Really slow paced and I can't understand what all the hype was on that game either. Just feels like a bad Hitman IMHO.

OK someone just said "Thief 2" and "meh" in the same paragraph. Let's take it outside, sir.

I'd start checking the shadows in your house if I were you. There are entire secret societies dedicated to upholding the glory of the Thief games.

Ah yes Ubisoft take as long as you like. Just make it awesome like the first one and I shall love you again.

I hated the first BG&E....

Because it ended too soon and I wanted sooooo much more playtime out of it. Easily one of the best games I've played to date.
