Must ... resist.
I don't have enough time to play all the games I keep having to buy because of Steam sales any more, but that THQ pack sure looks tempting.
lacuna 25th June 2010, 13:11 Quote
Complete 2K pack sounds almost too good for me. Damned Valve!
EdwardTeach 25th June 2010, 13:15 Quote
The THQ pack is an amazing offer.

Picked up Grid and Dirt 2 for just over a tenner yesterday, but I think that was a one day offer.

WOW, so exciting! I'd have thought you'd have had this news story up first thing this morning as the sale started about 6pm last night.

I was very pleased to load up steam to be greated by a MASSIVE sale!

Now I can cheaply buy loads more games I'll not get round to playing lol

Got these last night:
Bioshock 2 9.99 GBP
Grid (UK) 3.73 GBP
Beyond Good and Evil 3.34 GBP
Blood Bowl: Dark Elves Edition 8.49 GBP
Peggle Complete Pack 6.99 GBP

Also, the infamous DRM'd new Ubisoft games are now available in the UK. All 33% off. I'm keeping an eye on Settlers 7 to see if it is reduced further. Luckily my net connection is solid.

Also gonna keep an eye on Stalker Pripyat to see if that makes it into a one-day sale, although even at £10.04 it's still cheap enough to tempt me on the last day of sale if it hasn't been reduced further by then.
GravitySmacked 25th June 2010, 13:58 Quote
Had a quick look through last night and there wasn't anything that jumped out at me. All the games I saw at cheap prices I've already got.

Dam there goes my tax rebate in my bank account for less than a day. Games will keep me going for a few weeks though :D

how i loathe steam (sarcasm), for older games or stuff like torchlight that is cheap/to lazy to put in a cd to play/play purely for mindless entertainment its such a perfect system i hate it... like amazon and their dumb $5/100 album montly specials that take all my money... ill have to check if the cuts are similar USD hoo rah

Bah, I wanted to buy the THQ Pack, until Checkout said I already had some games in the pack and I wouldn't receive another copy. Guess I'll not give them my money then. Shame.

They never used to do that but now it's only a few games that will actually let you gift it to another person. So imo they really screwed up there, I bought the codemasters racing pack when it was last on offer and was let down that I was unable to gift Grid to a friend =\
mrbens 25th June 2010, 17:54 Quote
Yeah, it's a bit cheeky not letting you give the duplicate game(s) to someone else if you've paid for it twice.
Phalanx 25th June 2010, 17:57 Quote
It's a real shame, as the people who I tend to give games to are people who don't have Steam accounts and I like to sing Steam's praises by giving them the game to get them started.

It's a shame, I guess I won't be singing quite so loudly on Steam's behalf.
Fizzban 25th June 2010, 18:00 Quote
I was looking through all that last night on Steam. And silently whimpering as I've no money left after buying a bunch of PC components, not to mention the fact I'm taking my mum out for her birthday next week. No gaming goodies for me. :'(

Nah they've done this for a while. I'm actually really gutted - I got the THQ pack in the January sale for around £50, and had to miss out on extra copies of Deus Ex and one or two others. Back then it didn't have any of the Just Cause 2 goodness which I reeeeeally want but can't really buy unless I get it dirt cheap.

I picked up the new Stalker (Pripyat something) a bit cheaper on some sort of 'loyalty' deal because I had Clear Sky and SoC on Steam. funny thing is I got them in the Christmas sales for like, AU$1.50 or something incredible (already had a retail copy of both but nice to have them in the one place) so i saved massively over buying a retail copy which is what I was planning to do.
Otherwise most of the good stuff I already picked up in the last sales.
mute1 26th June 2010, 01:11 Quote
A few of those games from memory are cheaper on www.gog.com, even more so when they have had their specials.
Saivert 26th June 2010, 03:03 Quote
All these Steam sales don't mean jack to me. If I didn't buy the game at launch then why would I buy the game now just because it is dirt cheap? A game that is worth playing is worth buying. Even at launch price.

I have never bought stuff on sale that I didn't really need anyways. People who do are getting tricked into wasting their money.

Haven't finished the thread yet, but in case noone else has said so, it's possible to gift a game to an email account. Not existing STEAM account necessary for that. Eventually you'll have to install STEAM to redeem the gift, though. :)

So far bought Resident Evil 5, Serious Sam 1&2, Supreme Commander.... must stop!

Am a little gutted because I would have bought the THQ bundle if I hadnt only just bought WH40K2 & DOW, also the one with Team Fortress 2 in, only bought that a day or 2 ago - bummer.

Still, saved a packet on the games I have bought and the TF2 and WH40K were on offer when I got them anyway :)

Perhaps not everyone is as affluent as you. Also, the only thing that, as humans, we 'need' is food and sleep and I don't believe that you have never bought food that has been reduced or was on offer.

People place different values on their wants and desires and so long as Steam and high street shops continue to sell games at rock bottom prices after 6 months to a year then thats all Im going to be prepared to pay.
