Sega bringing 20 Dreamcast games to XBLA, PSN

Sega will be bringing more than 20 Dreamcast classics to XBLA and PSN, starting with Crazy Taxi.

While it was already known that Sega would be bringing Dreamcast classics Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventures to XBLA and PSN, E3 2010 has seen Sega reveal the full extent of it's plans. Apparently more than 20 Dreamcast classics are set to relaunch on more modern consoles.

"We hope to have somewhere between 18 to 24," Sega West president Mike Hayes told CVG.

Sega doesn't plan to delve further into its back catalogue though - Saturn games are off the table, for the moment.

"With Dreamcast, we want to refocus people on that particular console," continued Mike. "We want to make it more of a campaign... Confusing it by putting other [systems] in, we decided probably wouldn't be the right thing. And obviously the Dreamcast was huge for the fans."

Sega also dismissed rumours that it might be looking to relaunch the Dreamcast console itself, or a successor.

"We're a software company. We certainly won't be getting back into hardware, that's for sure."

Not surprising really - the failure of the Dreamcast and the Sega Saturn did a lot of damage to Sega, despite the strengths of both consoles.

I miss my old DC - might have to dig it out at some point. The original version of Jet Set Radio was so much better than JSR Future, so hopefully they'll bring that back.

Also Crazy Taxi was awesome, would be good to see that again, or even another sequel to it

It was the first HD console. If you got a VGA adapter the games looked so good, they beat anything on the PS2 and still look better then some 360 games. Sega really missed a few tricks with this console when marketing it.

They may have looked good on an old CRT PC monitor via VGA, but have tried them on a modern LCD @640x480???

The Dream Cast did not fail, it was simply to expensive for its time and had better graphics then any of the other consoles at the time. I still own two dream cast but the one game I would like to see come back is Soul Blade and Soul Calibur ^_^

I loved my Mega Drive and Saturn although the games for the PS were better and I prefer PS than Saturn but it had its charm
