Duke Nukem Forever may still be in the works

Duke Nukem Forever may still be in the works, hints the voice actor behind the legendary game character.

Duke Nukem Forever may, especially now that it appears to have been effectively cancelled, a joke to most gamers but recent remarks have hinted that the game may still see an eventual release.

The comments came from Jon St. John, the voice actor behind the legendary video game character, who suggested that work may still be under way with the game.

"Let me go ahead and tell you right now that I'm not allowed to talk about Duke Nukem Forever," St. John said when asked about it during a panel at the Music and Games Festival, according to PixelEnemy.

The crowd promptly erupted in groans, boos and hisses - but St. John was quick to calm them down and prevent a riot by suggesting that it was because he was bound by an ongoing confidentiality agreement.

"No, no, don't be disappointed, read between the lines… why am I not allowed to talk about it?" He said.

Duke Nukem Forever was first announced in 1997, meaning that it's been in development on some level for almost 15 years now. Wired recently put up an incredibly good article that explores the problems behind the project, titled 'How Success Killed Duke Nukem'.

This game just won't die. It's not even funny or interesting anymore, the joke is too widespread.

Hmmm.... If it is still in the works they really need to just finish it off and get it out before anything else bad happens.

Maybe because he has insider info on how bad the whole project was and why it was never released. Maybe he is bound to confidentiality for bad reasons instead of the only good one - that the game is still being made.

throw a few textures on a game engine and fire it out, most ppl would buy it out of curiousity or novelity
Denis_iii 7th January 2010, 12:27 Quote
this is ridiculous, just let it die
V3ctor 7th January 2010, 12:27 Quote
If it really comes out... I bet everyone is going to buy it... just for curiosity... but after so many years in development, maybe a copy of the game costs around 250€ :D

Maybe they're going to release a CD with all his voice acting without the game? :P

Nonsense. GT5 is the PS5's launch title, where as DNF is the XBox1440's.

want it released? Let EA Buy it out. Itll be released in a week with a "new"version every year!

Don't get too excited. They won't release anything along these lines until they've added auto-aim, health regeneration, and a third-person camera, by which time you could probably make up a name for it using your set of "First Person Shooter" fridge magnet words and release it as a PS3 exclusive that every games journo would spooge over.

I never cared about this game and never will ... unless it's released and is actually cool, which will never happen

Duke Nukem Forever will never die!

Maybe it is a game where duke is trying to kill the game, which if he is successful spawns a time loop continuum in which the games last forever, hence Duke Nukem Forever. I think the trouble is that the programmers cannot get past that point of testing, which has lead to insanity.

That's easy. He is not allowed to talk about as his NDA is contractually binding, no matter whether the company he signed that contract with still exists or not. It's a standard clause.
leslie 8th January 2010, 22:27 Quote
Well, no one can say they are quitters, but seriously, someone should tell them it's over.
ou7blaze 9th January 2010, 13:24 Quote
Booooooooooooooooooooring. Please die already Duke.
Sledgehammer 11th January 2010, 11:38 Quote
Hi all. Don't worry about the release of Duke Nukem Forever. It will be released real soon, even before the summer holiday vacation of 2010.
Why do we still have to wait for a while ? Because Duke Nukem is still too busy killing zombies, alien scum-suckers, slimeballs, weenies, mutants, missing links and some other genetic trash ;-)
