According to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, the Prince of Persia film is going down a storm with test audiences.
In a recent discussion following the release of the first trailer based on the
Prince of Persia movie, Jerry Bruckheimer has claimed that the film is going down a storm with test audiences - especially gamers.
The film, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal as the eponymous Prince, is based not on the older games from the 1980s or the
more recent revival, but on the in-between
Sands of Time trilogy.
Focusing on the adventures of a Persian Prince who finds an enchanted dagger that lets him rewind and control time, the film also stars Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina. The first draft of the script was written by original game designer Jordan Mechner, though multiple re-writes have been rumoured.
"
They're so excited to see this and skeptical, to be quite honest. Skeptical we picked Jake and weren't sure if he was the right for the character," Bruckheimer told
ComingSoon.
"
But when they saw this, they got very excited. They all applauded at the end of it and felt it was true to what Jordan [Mechner] had originally created. They go back to his first game and were asking me questions about a game he created in '89... So they're really into this."
"
I was surprised, I thought we made a terrific movie for the boys, but the women flipped over this film... There is violence, it's PG-13, [but] parents rated the film 100 per cent excellent or very good which never happens."
Bruckheimer even said that the film is testing better than
The Pirates of the Carribean did, though he says testing isn't always reliable.
"
Testing can be very... You don't know. I've had films test, nobody showed up. We did a movie called "Glory Road" which had enormous tests. We couldn't get people to go see it. It's a terrific film but nobody showed up."

I will probably go see it either way.
There was a plot?
Idk, probably is just me. *shrug*
I think a lot of the time the problem with Games to movies is that they think gamers are only interested in big explosions, over the top violence and hot women half naked. basically The film crank over and over again.
The thing is a lot of the games have very deep or rich stories and they immerse you in another world, that's not just non-stop action.
For instance if you play the hitman games. They are very dark and brooding and psychological. The first game starts with you waking up in an insane asylum not knowing who you are, and it ends with you killing the man that created you. The movie leaves out all of the discovery and intrigue and psychological underpinnings and makes him a dood who just kinda goes on a killing spree, protects a girl and then ends in over dramatic fashion.
I think Resident evil did so well, because the plot was actually very good and it wasn't just her running around doing crazy moves and killing zombies. That's also why resident evil 2 and 3 sucked, because they fell into that formula and put the plot on the back burner (same for matrix 2 and 3)
This. Trust me, it's not just you - a lot of people I've spoken to feel the same way.
I'm pretty sure Hollywood only has access to a limited number of backdrops. Sand, snow, sea, deciduous forest and Manhattan.
Why does I have the feeling that all movies based on good games are for mac users?
It's definately not you..
He's a Persian Prince, in Persia, wearing Persian Clothes, fighting magical Persian Bad Guy's...
Oh but he's Caucasian, and he's got an American Accent, and the hot Lady friend is Caucasian and she's got a British accent.
Whatever happened to acting, Jerry? Or even, maybe wait this might shock you Mr Bruckheimer... finding a Persian Actor, and a hot Lady Persian, have you seen Shermine Shahrivar? have you seen her cleavage? If you want 'gamers' (which is Hollywood speak for teen boys) to like your film tone down the SFX, get some Tony Jaa style 'he nearly killed himself for real stunts', find some clever dialogue and bring on the 'down her top shot'.
I agree. If you must pick a dame who cannot act, pick the one that at least looks and sounds the part. This movie is fail.
Persia.
Persia.
Jake Gyllenhaal?
Oh, in case some of you don't know who he is:
