Oddworld Inhabitants has announced that it is porting the remaining Oddworld games to PC.
Oddworld Inhabitants has announced that it is breaking from the previous years of console exclusivity and bringing the remaining games in the Oddworld series to the PC.
"
We are in the process of converting Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath to the PC, so that all four of the major Oddworld games will be re-releasing this winter in a package called 'The Oddbox," Oddworld's Lorne Lanning told
BitMob.
"
This will be the Abe games, Munch, and Stranger as one package for Steam's digital distribution network, as well as a few other digital distribution outlets."
The older Oddworld games,
Abe's Oddysee and
Abe's Exoddus, are already available on the PC and have been re-released on Steam and Good Old Games in recent years.
For those not in the know,
Stranger's Wrath is a western-themed first person shooter based on the eponymous bounty hunter, while
Munch's Oddysee is an action puzzler that bears the distinction of being one of the original Xbox 360 backwards-compatible games. Both games are set in the Oddworld universe that has become Oddworld Inhabitants' motif setting.
"
[Regarding new games in the series,] we hope to have an announcement soon, but I've been saying that for awhile now so I'll just shut up and hope for the best," said Lanning.

Heard this a while back on one of the oddworld fansites, it made me smile, but I thought nothing of it. As we all know (well oddworld fans) Oddworld Inhabitants don't have the best record for being reliable. :p
I'm seriously looking forward to this though, when I see it for purchase on the steam store, I will begin to hyperventilate.
These are the only reasons I ever bought an xbox.
Let's hope they more than just port them, improved graphics, high res with AA? *convulsions*
They're also in 2D too using sprites with a low fixed resolution which leaves no scope for improved graphics without remaking the whole game using higher res sprites and images/backgrounds etc.
Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath are both 3D using an engine that deals with polygons not sprites.
On the PS2 emulator, the graphics look so much better than when played through the same screen but on my PS2 because I can run my PS2 games at a higher res with AA/AF.
hopefully this happens. will be a must buy for me
