Game unveils Modern Warfare 2: Veteran Edition

The Veteran Edition package of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will retail only in Game and cost about £119.99.

Game and Activision has unveiled another prohibitively expensive retail package of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, dubbed the Veteran Edition.

According to Eurogamer the Veteran Edition package will be exclusive to Game stores in the UK. It will also cost a whopping £119.99, which is more than double the price that the regular game will be selling for at retail.

Activision recently raised a controversy by revealing that the retail versions of Modern Warfare 2 would cost around £55 across all platforms, to help compensate for the fluctuations in the strength of the Euro and the Pound Sterling.

The Veteran Edition of Modern Warfare 2 will contain some extra goodies though, the centrepiece of which is a 12" tall model of Captain Soap MacTavish that comes with interchangeable weapons - dual pistols, dual ice-axes and an M14 rifle.

The package will also contain the 'regular special edition', or Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 2, which includes a steel case, artbook and code to download Call of Duty: Classic on Xbox Live or PSN. It will go on sale alongside the full game, November 10th, and will apparently be console-only.

"Fans of Modern Warfare will want to get their hands on one of these very limited statues," said Game's Tricia Brennan. "There are a limited number available worldwide and we are proud to offer it exclusively here in the UK."

I don't like ornaments thanks.They are pointless and collect dust. If you buying a plastic ornament for that amount of money you are legally retarded.

As for the game itself. The cheapest price I can find for CODMW2 on the 360 is £42. What!? That's about £10 too expensive for buying on the day of release. They are just lying about "the euro/pound blah blah blah" If every other game on the market is released for the right amount of money then there's ZERO reason why the game which will probably top the sales charts till Christmas needs to get a price hike. Total crap.

The game is already getting low star ratings on websites because of the silly price. I would love it if humanity had the sense of mind to shun this game till it's reasonably priced. Alas, I think they'll get away with it and that lack of intelligence makes me fear for our species future.

£30 is my limit on games, even then I usually wait until it's ~£25.

These guys are really letting their success with modern warfare go to there head. I liked the game, it sold very well but they have more "special" **** for this game than even halo ever did. I dont think Call of Duty defines consol shooters quite yet. I hope rockstar copies them cause Ill pay $200 usd if GTAV Fantasy Edition comes with a hooker.

I bought the Bioshock limited edition on PC and got a Big Daddy, that was only £40. Ok, they're different games but atleast the Big Daddy is still good for scaring small children!

See, id love the nvg's, but tbh im not buying the ******* PS3/360 version when i'm a PC GAMER. I mean really, PC made your game, now you shaft us by making the nvg's only available in the PS3/360 version! WTF is up with that?

Crazy crazy... only people with more money than sense could justify paying that for essentially a mc donalds toy. btw keep an eye on play.com, price seems to be fluctuating. friends have reported they have orderd it for as little as £25. seems to change a lot : )
