Valve will be adding a new King of the Hill game mode to Team Fortress 2 when the next update for the game lands.
Valve has confirmed that subtle references to 'hill defence tactics' in a
Team Fortress 2 blog post written by the Soldier yesterday is an indication that a new King of the Hill gameplay mode will be coming in the next
TF2 update.
Nor will
King of the Hill be the only addition either - there's also going to be 18 new hats added into the game for players to collect and adorn themselves with and at least one new arena map, called Offblast. The new hats will include a Viking helmet for the Soldier, an ushanka for the Heavy and a fireman's helmet for the Pyro.
The King of the Hill mode itself is fairly standard - two teams have to battle for control of a single location and whoever is the first to hold it for a total of 18 minutes wins the match and can proclaim themselves King of the Hill.
Valve hasn't yet responded to the idea that the Soldier will also be getting a class update at the same time, though it would seem to make sense given the fact that the new mode was introduced and teased by the Soldier. That, or it could be another
secret Spy update - you never can tell with those crazy Valve guys!
For those of you who haven't played
Team Fortress 2 in a while we recommend you get reacquainted with the Soldier just in case.
You can meet him here.
What do you think of the continued
TF2 updates in

And I'm tempted not to because it's changed too much and I've got so much to catch up on.
Jamie, if you do give it ago give me a shout, I might join in.
The 360 version was never really representative of the best TF2 had to offer. Admittedly its not for everyone though.
I'll be playing it on the PC...
shame was a great game.
Eighteen minutes? Everywhere else I've read it says three. Or is it a best of eleven and nobody else has picked up on that?
I see they've tweak quite a bit, should be interesting.
I was like that too, then I got bored enough to play it and I'm addicted again. Since they changed the unlocks so that you find them randomly it means that you can just jump in and have fun, mostly on new maps, then change up your playing style every so often with the new items. Eliminating the achievement grind made the game much more accessible.
I just got TF2 a couple weeks back and it really wasn't all that hard to get up to speed with all the different mechanics and items, I'm sure if you've played the game before you'd have an even easier time than I did.
Do try the game again. ;)

Lots of changes.
FFS these are retarded changes! (And I'm still working on the stun Ubered people achievement!) I bet a lot of the quoted changed get reverted in a day or two.
