Bioware confirms Dragon Age delay

Bioware confirms Dragon Age delay

Dragon Age: Origins has now been pushed back to a November release for all platforms.

Bioware has released a statement confirming rumours that emerged last week claiming that upcoming multi-platform RPG epic Dragon Age: Origins had fallen behind schedule.

The statement amends the release date for the game on all platforms, pushing the release back from October 20th. The official statement comes just a day after Bioware had refuted the delay as a rumour. Hmm.

Speaking to IGN a BioWare spokesperson said that the game game will now ship on November 3rd in the US and November 6th in Europe for the Xbox 360 and PC version.

The PlayStation 3 version of Dragon Age: Origins meanwhile has been more heavily affected by the delays and will ship at a later, unspecified date in November.

While Bioware hasn't released a statement about why the game has been delayed exactly, we reckon it's going to be something to do with tuning the control system for the console versions of the game - which only began late in Dragon Age's development. We took a look at the game on the Xbox 360 not long ago and we weren't exactly bowled over by the radial menu system, though the PC version is mercifully good-looking. Check out our Dragon Age: Origins Xbox 360 preview for more info.

Dragon Age: Origins itself is Bioware's second big release of this year, with Mass Effect 2 also aiming for a pre-Christmas release this year. Let us know which one you're most excited about in the forums.

Let's hope there are no further delays. :) And that EA aren't going to try DRM'ing the PC version to the eyeballs.

I thought the PC version was already done? If so, why delay it just becasue the consolez? I think many in the industry want Pc to die based on their actions.

Because they don't want people who want this game to go buy it on the PC. They want them to buy it on consoles. ;)

I fear there might be a 'minor delay' of the PC version announced soon...

The spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate?

Can it be played on anything other than PC?!

if you have a pc capable of playing this you'd be mad to play it on anything else.

I'm actually happy with this news on two counts, firstly they are taking their time to complete and secondly this clearly indicates the title was developed primarily with PC in mind. Great stuff.

November 6th is fine by me - means I'll have been paid already :-)

Again? FFS!

Not that it really matters. My PC isn't up to running it in all it's PC graphical glory anyway.

phew, I read the heading and my heart sank. Really thats not too bad in game terms though, I`ll be more than happy to wait.

Depending on how tactical the fighting is i`d say PC, although the 40" tv would make it look nice, controllers are too fiddley to make the game fun. hmmm i just hope the delay isn`t to dumb the whole experience down to fit in with the console experience.

Hmm i'm contemplating which platform to play it on, I have PC or Xbox at my disposal, PC more than capable but i do tend to play anything other than FPS or RTS on console..

I remember when the PC version was going to come out before all the others, sigh. I don't mind other than on principle though, my last exam is on nov 7, so this eliminates the need to fight temptation :)

As a side note:

Lolwat? I could've sworn Mass Effect 2 was always scheduled for March 2010.
