Serious Sam HD coming to PC too

Majesco has confirmed that Serious Sam HD will be coming to PC, as well as Xbox Live Arcade.

German publisher CDV has confirmed to Eurogamer that it will be publishing a PC version of Serious Sam HD, which was announced for the Xbox Live Arcade yesterday.

CDV will be publishing a digital version of the game alongside the retail version this autumn, though specific distribution platforms haven't yet been announced. The console version meanwhile will be out later this summer.

CDV also confirmed that Serious Sam HD will be built on the brand new Serious Engine 3, which was announced two years ago for the new and little-seen Serious Sam 3. Since then nothing has been seen nor heard on either the next game in the series or the tech that'll run it.

Serious Sam HD will be an enhanced remake of the first game which, just to clarify things for newcomers to the series, actually includes two previously separate titles - Serious Sam: The First Encounter and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. Though both games were released separately they actually run together and form one larger game - Serious Sam 1, which is why Serious Sam 2 is really the third game in the series to be released.

Confusing, we know, but screenshots from Serious Sam HD do imply that Serious Sam HD will include both parts of the first game in the series.

Prices and exact release dates haven't been nailed down for the remake just yet, but we're just happy that one of the best co-op games ever made is getting a graphical overhaul. Let us know your thoughts in the forums.

So they'll try and cash in with old stuff first before releasing a new SS later?
Did EA buy them recently?

Sqweeeee!!! SS1 was substantially better than SS2. If SS3 is anything like SS2, I'm more looking forward to SS1 HD than I am a second sequal.

Yay to Ug-Zan III, Vicious Warlord, in HD!

Now the 1200 MS point price tag makes sense. At least I'm hoping the XBLA version will also include both episodes?

excellent, I loved the original SS. the only reason I dont play it now is because there are few servers and even fewer people. with the HD version being released, there should be loads more people to do the uber coop mode with. more games should have co-op.

They really butchered the series with SS2. I was an avid SS:FE and SS:SE player when they came out and kept playing it years later. SS2 was a disappointment to say the least. I just hope they will NOT bring SS2 elements into this HD remake. That would be a disaster.

I wonder what the new engine will look like. I still love the graphics of the second one, I think the colors are just beautiful and in that category the engine is still unmatched imo

My thoughts exactly. If it's just SS:FE + SE with hi-res models and textures I'll be happy, if they touch the physics in any way it could be bad!

Activision, or even Nintendo fits that accusation way more than EA
