Metal Gear Solid: Rising has been confirmed as a multi-platform title for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Konami's Hideo Kojima took to the stage yesterday as part of Microsoft's conference at E3 2009 and revealed a new
Metal Gear Solid title was on the way called
Metal Gear Solid: Rising. The game will apparently be based around the character of Raiden.
In a surprise twist though the game will now be multiplatform and is confirmed for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC according to journalist resource Games Press.
Currently listed with a TBA release date, Games Press added platform details for the new
Metal Gear Solid title shortly after Kojima made the announcement. Konami itself hasn't confirmed any formats for the title other than the fact that it will definitely be coming to the Xbox 360, but since the announcement didn't include any mention of it being an exclusive...
A second new
Metal Gear Solid game has also been revealed by Games Press, this time for the PSP.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is down for a release in 2010, which has led to speculation that it may be a downloadable exclusive for Sony's new handheld platform, the
PSP Go. Sony has confirmed that the PSP Go
will be getting a new
Metal Gear Solid title, but not whether it'll be an exclusive.
More details about both games are expected to be revealed as E3 2009 continues, so we'll keep you posted on the latest details as and when they emerge.

Metal Gear Solid for the PC, or has the series got to convoluted and bloated for your tastes? Let us know your thoughts in

:(
It is probably as the first poster says though, the convoluted story will be impossible to follow without having played the previous ones. :(
Yeah, he is the Jar Jar of the franchise
Whatever people say about MGS, the first one at least was a tremendously good game, and in all honesty still one of the best told stories in gaming in a long time. It's worth having a go on an old PSX, because as its the first there's no crazy plot to follow. Just the fact a crazy bio-enhanced super-spy has been hired to take down a bunch of his old team-mates who have gone loco and nicked a super-weapon, and that's it. The gameplay even lasts longer than the cut-scenes!
Tsk, tsk, tsk... Never tried Snake Eater? EASILY as good as MGS 1. 4 was good, but I think it had a lot about it (9 hrs of cut scenes? Seriously?) that brought the overall enjoyment down. Seems as though only the odd numbered ones were particularly good.
Raiden was annoying, but maybe losing part of his head and spine made him less whiny.
Yeah, like PS1, 2, 3.. :p
And yeah, Snake Eater was pretty awesome. I'll need a decent controller though, I can't stand playing non-FPS/RTS games without one.
The last PC Metal Gear game had pretty terrible reviews, hopefully they know what they're doing this time.
Besides this game is just a crappy spinoff and not a real part of the series.
Hideo announced at E3 today the MGS game for PSP saying it is a real part of the story and not a spin off or side story. I wish that one was on PS3 instead of PSP.
I will wait for MGS5.
