While the project isn't yet confirmed, Activision is rumoured to be at work on a Guitar Hero reality TV show.
Activision is rumoured to be in talks at the moment with several media companies about bringing the
Guitar Hero and
Call of Duty mega-franchises to the screen in the future.
The rumour, which seems credible given
Activision's attitude to developing the two franchises, comes from
Reuters and cites "
people familiar with the [on-going] discussions."
There's precious few details on what exactly Activision might be looking to do with the two adaptations (other than make a lot of money), but the article does indicate that
Guitar Hero may become a reality TV series, while
Call of Duty may become a full-length feature film. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick did comment earlier that
Guitar Hero in particular might make a good TV show or concert tour if the series was adapted correctly.
Reuters also makes brief mention of the
World of Warcraft movie, which Activision has already
confirmed, but doesn't offer any new insight as to how the project might be progressing.
On the topic of
Guitar Hero, Activision also took the chance recently to let gamers know that the franchise has officially gone on to be one of the three most successful series of all times. It is now one of only three games to surpass more than USD two billion in sales over the course of the series - the other two entries being Nintendo's
Mario franchise and EA's
Madden games.
Do you like the idea of a
Guitar Hero TV show, or does the concept of a
Call of Duty movie put you off entirely? Let us know your thoughts in

Activision has become such a big company now that the Capitalist Manifesto demands that they continue to expand just to remain afloat, and since they have practically exhausted the videogame market they need to move to others, probably sacrificing a lot of quality along the way. Then they get bought out by Fox or Time Warner or something, and yadayada, you know how it goes.
A Call Of Duty movie won't really have anything different from any other war movie out there, but i guess that's problem that would be faced by any game that has such a realistic approach to a topic that's been done in movies so many times. If they do make this I will probably have a hard time telling it apart from Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down.
The WoW movie I think would be a better idea since I think it has more characteristic elements to identify the franchise with, but since I don't really play WoW os know much about it I'll leave it like that.
as for Guitar Hero Reality TV show wow is this what TV has come to, I mean are the people watching something like this so dumb that they find that entertaining... how sad...
/sadface :(
Have you ever played any of the Warcraft games, It would proberly be a movie that is more based upon the entire universe and not the WOW game. Warcraft 3 I belive could be re-written to a decent movie.
