HAWX competition winners announced

HAWX competition winners announced

The competition is now over - the winners were David Parker and Tim White. Congratulations!

It's time for congratulations to the lucky and commiserations to the rest of you - the Tom Clancy's HAWX competition we've been hosting in conjunction with Ubisoft, Thrustmaster, Sapphire and ATi has finally drawn to a close.

We put one simple question to you and in return we offered the chance for one lucky reader to bag themselves a new Sapphie HD 4850 512MB graphics card, a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X flightstick, a MicroFighter remote controlled plane and a copy of Tom Clancy's HAWX. A runner-up would nab themselves the same graphics card and a copy of the game.

The question we asked was; in Tom Clancy's HAWX, what does ERS stand for. The answer, as everyone who had read our hands-on preview with Tom Clancy's HAWX would know, was Enhanced Reality System.

A lot of you entered the competition and a lot of you got the answer right, but in the end we could only select two winners - namely David Parker, Newcastle Upon Tyne in first place and Tim White, Twickenham as the runner-up. Congratulations to both!

The rest of you meanwhile will have to buy the game yourselves unfortunately, though our Tom Clancy's HAWX PC review has gone up today if you want to know a little more about the game.

Pass on your congratulations to the winners in the forums.

you know, Belgium is not THAT far from the UK, why don't we get a chance to win too?

Europe in general is pretty close... actually, the UK is part of Europe! Who would've known!

Hardware is so expensive over there, they need these competitions to spice up their rigs. ;)

Entered, ta! Gfx card would be donated to my sister's PC so she can play DMC4 at a nice res :) HAWX does look good though, I've played through the PS3 demo which was good fun. There was no 'game over' because you were too busy tear-arsing round - you were pretty much free to blat at whatever you wanted in whatever order. And I like that in a game.

LOL! It took some balls to post a problem like that on the Internet.

(took some balls to create the problem too)

Uh, wow! That has never occurred to me to be possible - I mean, just a little bit of self-control and/or foresight (cue the foreskin jokes). But still, I wonder how he managed (not to say handled) the ...uhm... logistics of it. Sure, I understand sexual desire and good old-fashioned hornyness just as much as the next guy, but still. I can't remember a single time when, in the middle of assembling a computer, the urge to fap overpowered me to the extent where I soiled my hardware because of the resulting eruption. I do not understand how this is possible.

Oh, and about the competition; when will we get a competition that all us non-britons can attend?

Pfff, and again only for UK.
Do you even try to setup something for Europe or such?

I know I know, has to do with the advertisers and such but come on...

Fail at UK only. All the easy comps go to the locals and the world wide ones are hard.

i cant even remember the last competition that i could take part in (US) :(

the prizes are pretty sick imo, i wouldve loved HAWX and that joystick >.>

Lies! All lies! Everyone knows the long, and arduous channel crossing is riddled with dangers, lack of passport controls, lack of security and near transparency ... but alas such challenges are impossible to overcome. Only rumors and late night gossip in the pubs is all that people hear of this mysterious "France" and "Europe", scientists estimate that they may be able to begin initial testing for sending a manned mission across "The Channel" by 2025. Politicians are hesitant though -- there may be Russians on the other side.

Shipping it to wherever the hell you are will probably cost about as much as buying a new 4850 there. Plus by the time you receive it after all the customs checks it will probably be last gen tech anyway.

Not from GB to Denmark or Germany, it takes two or tree days, and the customs don't care when it is from the inside of the EU. currently a lot of danes by from GB because of the current exchange rate,

Would be absolutely amazing if I win this, even runner up! Good luck every one else :D

Us across the pond can hardly ever enter these things. is it truly that hard to ship stuff overseas? (not trying to be an @ss)

on second thought, there must be some legal issues in the way. i dunno.

True. People say Dunkirk was a mass evacuation from the invading Germans. They're wrong, it was all the ex-pats suddenly realising they were not in the UK and fleeing home.
