Top 10 UK PC games chart

Top 10 UK PC games chart

Dawn of War II appears to have chucked a frag grenade at the chart and stormed in to take the number 1 spot.

You know that a PC game is selling by the truckload in the UK if it can knock the country's beloved Football Manager off the top spot, but this isn't easy. F.E.A.R. 2 had a sniff around the number 1 slot last week, and couldn't quite make it, but Relic's latest ork-slaughtering RTS, Dawn of War II, has stormed straight in at number 1, barging through any obstacles in its path. This has had the knock-on effect of pushing last week's top three games down a peg. Meanwhile, Spore has re-entered the top 10 at number 8. You can see the retail top 10 for the week ending 21 February below:

01 Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II (New entry)
02 Football Manager 2009 (Last week: 1)
03 F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (Last week: 2)
04 World of Warcraft: Wrath of Lich King (Last week: 3)
05 The Sims 2: Double Deluxe (Last week: 7)
06 The Sims 2: Apartment Life (No change)
07 Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3(Last week: 4)
08 Spore (Last week: 11)
09 Grand Theft Auto IV (Last week: 5)
10 Call of Duty: World at War (Last week: 8)

Peering down into the depths of the chart shows that CSI: New York has now dropped out of the top 10 this week, while Sega's Football Manager Live has similarly dropped down to number 14. Meanwhile, there's a new entry in the form of Ascaron's new fantasy RPG, King's Bounty: The Legend at number 19, and Crysis has re-entered the chart at the bottom. ou can see the retail top 20 for the week ending 21 February below:

11 World of Warcraft: Battle Chest (Last week: 14)
12 Fallout 3 (No change)
13 CSI: New York (Last week: 9)
14 Football Manager Live (Last week: 10)
15 Left 4 Dead (Last week: 13)
16 Far Cry 2 (Last week: 15)
17 FIFA Manager 09 (No change)
18 Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War Complete (No change)
19 King's Bounty: The Legend (New entry)
20 Crysis (Re-entry)

Now that Dawn of War II has been officially released, the game has now jumped up to number 1 in the Steam chart as well - the pre-order for the game was at number 3 this time last week. Amazingly, this is the first time that a game has knocked Left 4 Dead off the Steam top spot since it was released. As well as this, the pre-orders for Creative Assembly's forthcoming Empire: Total War are also dominating the Steam chart this week - the Napoleonic strategy epic is due to be released on 4 March. See the full Steam top 10 below:

01 Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II (Last week: 3)
02 Left 4 Dead (Last week: 1)
03 F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (Last week: 2)
04 Counter-Strike: Source (No change)
05 Empire: Total War Special Forces Edition New entry
06 Empire: Total War New entry
07 The Orange Box (Last week: 5)
08 Team Fortress 2 (No change)
09 Call of Duty: World at War (Last week: 7)
10 Fallout 3 (Last week: 6)

Am I the only one who thought fallout 3 was rubbish?

Hmm... the fear demo impressed me, I'll probably pick that one up if steam does a half off sale for it...

Spore is still hanging on?!?

really, IMHO GTA4 shouldn't have received such a bad publicity, it's a fantastic game.

Fallout 3 was amazing, only downside was the designed for 360 interface but still had little barring.

Can't wait for Empire Total War myself, been playing the 2 demo battles for days now lol. Hopee bit-tech does a review with graphics break down and such.

I must say I do not usually play FPS games and did not play the first game of the series, but I picked up F.E.A.R.2 Friday and I am really impressed with the game thus far. Haven't had a whole lot of time to devote to it yet, but it is creepy.
