According to Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi, Resident Evil 5 will be the last game like it in the series.
As the release of
Resident Evil 5 starts to loom ever closer, Capcom has been eager to let everyone know that it definitely won't be the last game in the long-running series.
One thing nobody expected though is that it might be the last game of its type in the series and that the next game will be a complete reboot for the franchise.
According to
1-UP though, that's exactly what's on the cards.
Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi has been talking about plans for the next title and has apparently confirmed that the next
Resident Evil game will be something totally new.
"
Resident Evil 5 is practically guaranteed to be the last of its kind," said 1-UP. "
Takeuchi assured us that a reboot is in order for the inevitable Resident Evil 6."
What exactly this reboot may constitute hasn't been elaborated on at all yet, so it's entirely possible that the news could be as underwhelming as a new control system or swapping zombies out for ghosts. On the other hand though, it could be something a lot more different and dramatic - epic-level zombie-defense RTS, anyone?
There's still a good week or two until the release of
Resident Evil 5, though the playable demo is currently available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In the mean time, why not share your speculations on
the forums?
that was so cool.
Mega binary idea!
:D
Any children's program that has the guts to end Season 2 by having a seemingly unstoppable horde of soul sucking aliens being finally defeated by the hero, only to have his arch-nemesis banish him to the nether along with the aliens gets an A+ from my book. Up there with Optimus Prime's death in terms of stomach clenching.
It's not even out yet...
Controls are fine.
"You can't move and shoot" You have never been able to do that. It's RE. I swear to god, if you people ruin this series with your stupid complaints...
Nah, the RE1 + RE Zero remakes on the Gamecube were brilliant. They should have done RE2 and RE Nemesis in the same way. :(
The acccident and discovery (RE1). The spead, the effects and mutations (RE2), The attempted cover up (RE3). The chase for Wesker and the formal introduction of the Ashford family (RE:CV). The fall of Umbrella and rescue story (sucked)(RE4). Intro to the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, Tricell Pharmaceutical Company, Weskers return and former Umbrella key players (RE5).
Did I mention controls, and no, theya re NOT fine, it was fine when it was acvtion horror, for a coop action game that it has become it is slow, clunky and un-intuitive. I read several dissappointing previews and the demo was enough to know it is not good.
I would, however, buy a zombie defense RTS in a heartbeat. That sounds godly.
It's a run and gun world now :(
