Braid coming to PC next month

Braid won us over with it's charming graphics, fiendish puzzles and deep story - and soon we can play it on PC.

Well, it's about time - that's the first thing we'll say to Jonathan Blow's announcement of Braid's PC release. The fiendishly difficult indie puzzle platformer has been out on the Xbox 360 since August last year and has only now been dated for PC.

Still, at least we won't have too much longer to wait - Blow has said that the PC version of the game will be digitally released on March 31st, according to RockPaperShotgun. As with the Xbox 360 version there's no retail release planned either.

At the moment it looks like the game will be exclusively distributed on Stardock's Impulse platform too, which is currently taking $20 pre-orders on the game. As it's being distributed on Impulse it also means that the game will be completely DRM-free and compliant with Stardock's Gamers Bill of Rights.

While we haven't played the PC version itself, we still reckon the game is going to be very much worth the money if it's anything like the Xbox 360 version. You can read our full Braid review for more information, but suffice it to say that it's one of only three games that we've given a 10/10 score to in the last two years.

Joe liked it so much in fact that he even pointed to Braid as his Best Gaming Moment of 2008.

Are you eagerly awaiting the PC release of Braid then, or are you only interested in a Steam release? Let us know your thoughts in the forums.

It's probably built on xna so a mac port is unlikely.

It would be more convenient for me if it were released on Steam, however I'm never going to complain about a game compliant with Stardock's Gamers Bill of Rights :D

Braid isn't written in XNA (Blow has said this a couple of times on his blog, but people still think it is), but it probably does use Direct X so a MAC port is probably not on the cards at the moment.
