EA has confirmed Mass Effect 2 as a multiplatform release for 2010, along with a few other titles.
It's interesting how things come in threes; today Harry finished
Mass Effect on the PC finally, I'm wearing a
Mass Effect t-shirt and Electronic Arts has confirmed a 2010 release date for
Mass Effect 2. Huh.
Apparently meant to be unveiled at the
cancelled EA press event the other day, EA has today confessed that
Mass Effect 2 is on track for a 2010 release on multiple platforms.
Which platforms exactly haven't been confirmed, but a PC and Xbox 360 release seems likely given that BioWare has already announced intentions to let players bring characters from the first game over to the sequel via their savegames. A PlayStation 3 or Wii release is still possible though, with BioWare having previously mentioned being
interested by a Mass Effect DS game too.
That wasn't all that was set to be unveiled either, it seems. During a conference call regarding the Q3 financial performance of the company, CEO John Riccitiello
confirmed that EA was also going to be porting
Dead Space to the Nintendo Wii in the future, though no dates were laid down.
Going further, Riccitiello confirmed rumours about a new
Battlefield: Bad Company game for consoles, which is apparently the next project of
Battlefield developer DICE. The game will apparently be a direct sequel to the first
Bad Company, be console-exclusive, use the same engine and tech and be ready for 2010.
Does all that sound good to you, or are you still annoyed by
the recent delays also announced by EA? Let us know your thoughts in
the forums.
it's a trilogy - so the concluding chapter's gonna be something insane like 2013.
*twiddles thumbs*
(Can someone come to dust me off as I wait? I'll put you on a retainer).
EXACTLY... It wasn't too long ago that I heard Bad company was coming out as console exclusive and an interview here on bit-tech.net said that they still had the traditional Battlefield plans for the PC and neither Heroes or Bad company was it... but I'm losing faith and wondering if there is going to be another one like they did before... you know for hardcore games that got them where they are today... good thing Activision knows when a franchise is making money, fans and awards and pumps COD out like there is nothing else out there for us to play... and hey you know what it sells really well.
It's never gonna exist. They can make a halfassed, short, boring console game for much less time and money (BC) and sell it for more. So why should they bother?
The audience sets the bar for the games, and the bar has been placed very low. I guess they know they can't fork this bad company crap on the PC.
totally agree. It's a shame, i cut my multiplayer FPS teeth on Battlefield 2, loved it to pieces
Great news none the less, just hope they manage to give us at least some additional content in between, would be sa-weet!
A shareholder or top analyst on the quarterly earnings call needs to ask EA why not. I seriously have to question the management decisions being made by EA. No wonder they have just announced a record loss and are cutting 1100 Jobs today.
I wont be buying Bad Company 2. The 1st was mediocre despite glowing reviews. Worthy of renting only in my opinion.
it will come out with duke nukem forever....
