The new T2RN game from Disney Interactive is set for a 2011 release, along with the new film.
Disney Interactive is apparently planning to release a new
Tron game to tie-in with the upcoming sequel to the 1984 sci-fi movie starring Jeff Bridges.
The sequel to original movie is set to star Garret Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, with Jeff Bridges also making a return. It's idiotically titled '
T2RN' and is listed for a 2011 release.
The game is to enter development shortly and will see a release alongside the film, according to
Variety, who express concern that Disney Interactive is starting new projects while also laying off staff. The article also mentions Warren Spector's new project with Disney, which is rumoured to be a platformer starring Mickey Mouse - possibly a remake of
The Castle of Illusion.
The world of
Tron has long lived hand-in-hand with computer games of course, primarily because the game is about people who get sucked into a computer system. Aside from dozens of Light-cycle games, there's also
Discs of Tron and
Tron 2.0 - the latter having been developed by Monolith in 2003 to favourable reviews.
Little is known about the new and upcoming game, but it seems reasonable to assume it'll have a light-cycles section and lots of neon lights. It'll probably be a multi-platform title too.
Are you looking forward to the new
T2RN film, or are you as put off by the name as we are? Let us know your thoughts in

im in ur gaming grid, derezzing ur light cycles.
There's a shakey-cam teaser for the film floating about on the internets somewhere, possibly filmed at a comic/film convention. It shows old JB in a (redesigned) lightcycle trying to outrun a program...
Beeing a tie-in to a disney film though...don't remember any disney tie in's that were FPS like TRON2.0
I didn't realise the new Tron was so far away - so if game development is starting now, we might see a fairly decent tie-in game...nah, I'm just kidding. It'll be pants. :D
TBH the name TR2N is completely pox. E.E.L.'s T2ON would be much better as the 2 could be interpreted as an R and still give the number message. Kind of like SE7EN when it was released.
Maybe because that sounds really lame; especially compared to anything tron.
This, or T2.0N (in a better font).
