Boom Blox 2 announced

Steven Spielberg has announced that he'll be working with EA again on Boom Blox Bash Party.

Say what you will about Electronic Arts and the Nintendo Wii - Boom Blox is still one of our favourite games on the console and its appeal has proved both accessible and long-lived if you ask us.

We consider it great news then that Steven Spielberg has announced that he'll be teaming up with Electronic Arts again to make a sequel to the game, this time with more of a multiplayer twist; Boom Blox Bash Party.

The gameplay for the second title will be fundamentally similar to the first game, a kind of Jenga-alike where players have to solve puzzles by either knocking down or building up walls and towers. This time though EA is going to expand on the original gameplay by including new blocks, new modes and an improved multiplayer option.

Most intriguing however is that players will get the option to access user-made levels over a 'net connection, with EA promising the chance to download and rate levels from other users across the world.

"Boom Blox Bash Party is a wild social gaming experience. We know families and friends really enjoyed playing the original Boom Blox together, so we designed more explosive multiplayer experiences with Boom Blox Bash Party," said Spielberg in an statement to Reuters. The acclaimed director helped EA to make the original game as part of a three-game deal, with the aim of Boom Blox being to create a very family-orientated game that anyone can play.

If you've not played the original Boom Blox then it's definitely one of the few Wii games we recommend having a look at, but you can check out our full Boom Blox review for more details. Let us know your own thoughts in the forums.

ditto My friends love it. Luckily I was able to tell them about it or else they would have never bought it.

Very good game and gets so much better with more than one player.

Hopefully the sequel will be just as good.
