GTA IV PC to have 32-player multiplayer

GTA IV PC to have 32-player multiplayer

The PC version of Grand Theft Auto 4 will have support for up to 32 players in some multiplayer modes.

Rockstar has announced that among the updates and improvements to the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV is support for upto 32 players in some multiplayer modes.

The PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV is set for release on December 3rd, a month or two after the game was first released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. A DS spin-off game, titled Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is also currently in development for the Nintendo DS.

Grand Theft auto IV for the PC will have a bevy of extra enhancements over the original console version though, including enhanced graphics, traffic density options, improved draw distance and a new replay editor that will allow players to upload video clips to the Rockstar Social Club website.

The multiplayer will also be expanded too according to Rockstar, who today revealed that the Deathmatch, GTA Race and Free modes will now support up to 32 players at once - much more than the console version. The other modes in the game are still limited to 16-player matches.

Be warned though that Grand Theft Auto IV for PC is being released exclusively under the Games for Windows brand, so the multiplayer will likely be tied to Microsoft's PC version of Xbox Live. That isn't inherently bad, but it may put off a few fans.

If you've not picked up the game yet then you can check out our Grand Theft Auto IV review on the Xbox 360 for more details about what to expect from the title.

Is GTA IV multiplayer all it's cracked up to be, or just a disappointing mess? Let us know what you think in the forums.

Securom is needed for online authentication, although this time it has no limited activations. Steam version also comes with it.

i'll call you, simply on the usage of fail. Use the word fail to describe anything outside of humor your an idiot.

Instant Showstopper, SecuROM, I'd never thought I'd live long enough to see something that I dislike more than Jack Thompson. I guess they're like cockroaches you stomp one and another one scurries out of a hole in the wall

the game is available to be purchased through steam, but the online features are provided (managed? not sure what to call it) by windows live.

i think this one is going to be a torrent for me, i am not going to give rockstar money so they can treat me like a criminal. hopefully online play will work in the cracked version.
Smilodon 30th November 2008, 14:03 Quote
Sounds good.

Now I just have to actually get the game.

Hopefully it will be here by the middle of text week. :) (Pre-orders tend to show up a day early :D )
