LittleBigPlanet PSP rumoured

LittleBigPlanet PSP rumoured

Rumours continue to circulate that Media Molecule is working on a PSP version of LittleBigPlanet.

This is still a rumour for now, though it is one that's been doing the rounds a fair bit, but Sony is said to be secretly working on a PSP version of the recently relaunched LittleBigPlanet.

The rumour, which this time comes from Electronic Gaming Monthly in the US, doesn't offer any true details on the game or how it might work, but it's still a mighty enticing offer.

"The LBP universe will also continue to evolve next year with the release of the PSP version," says the report according to Kotaku.

"[We hear] it’s fantastically ambitious and will further flesh out the PS3 LBP experience."

While still miles away from an official announcement it does seem that Sony, who have adopted the Sackboy character as the current face of the PlayStation 3 and who have invested a lot of effort into LittleBigPlanet, would be foolish not to explore the franchise further. We know Sony is certainly keen to provide more cross-functionality between the PSP and PS3, having spoken out on the topic recently.

Most interesting of all though is the reveal that LBP developer Media Molecule is not going to be involved with the project, instead favouring other and currently unannounced projects.

This actually sounds like a really good idea, hopefully whoever develops the title will really make sure that their offering is up to the (high) standard that Media Molecule set with their original game.

I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again but I really feel like Sony has a fantastic opportunity to exploit the PSP to do amazing things for the PlayStation brand as a whole and thus far I don't feel like they're taking full advantage of the platform. A good PSP LBP game with dedicated cross-platform support would do wonders for their cause.

Now here is 1 game that may actually make me turn on my PSP and (SHOCK HORROR) actually play a game on it.

For such an able portable (DS KICKING) console, its a scandal that it hardly has any decent games for it. The fact that this story has like 2 comments against it shows that nobody cares about Sony's runt of the litter.

Shame... a cyring shame.
