New Riddick game next Spring

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is currently set for a Spring release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Atari has confirmed that it has picked up the rights to publish the new Chronicles of Riddick game, which will be released next Spring.

The new game was originally supposed to be published by Sierra, but was one of many titles sent into limbo when the publisher fell into trouble after the Activision and Blizzard merger. Now, Atari has snagged up the rights to the game on the sly.

The new Chronicles of Riddick game is being billed partly as a remake and partly as a new game. While initial news first indicated that the game would be an enhanced remake, Atari now says that the game will include an entirely new and full length campaign. New characters, story and location!

Set aboard a merc ship called the Dark Athena, players will once more be cast as Riddick as he uses a combination of stealth and brutal cunning to evade, outwit and decimate his opponents. The game will also include the first multiplayer options that the franchise has yet seen.

The new game will also include a remade and enhanced version of the original campaign too, which Atari promises has been "re-imagined for a whole new audience."

Speaking of games I've yet to open, Escape from Chronicles of Riddick - Butchers Bay, is one of the games I've yet to stick in the xbox to play (bought for the princly of sum of £2 brand new from a gamestaion sale a couple of years ago). The original had some good reviews, I think I'll keep my eyes peeled for this one and perhaps finally open the original game.

Escape from Butcher's Bay is one of the best PC games ever. Ever. If you haven't played it, you should.

Awesome, didn't ever complete EFBB, always got distracted, but thought it was excellent of what I played.

The original was a surprise in that not only was it a good game but it was a film license game that wasn't dreadful - plus it was better than the film.

I'll look forward to this one.

Butcher's Bay was brilliant. Loved every minute of it although it was a really short game. Hopefully Atari will do the original justice.
