Treyarch is not going to rule out more WWII Call of Duty games in the future.
With the
Call of Duty franchise reaching new heights with the modern twist, it was strange that Treyarch would plunge the game back into the historic depths of the second World War. Still, many have assumed that this will be the last historically set
Call of Duty game. It makes sense, right?
Well, according to Treyarch's Noah Heller, it can't be ruled out that future Treyarch games in the franchise will continue to be set in WWII.
"
I can't say that there won't ever be a WWII Call of Duty game again." said Heller in an interview with
CVG where he discussed the upcoming
Call of Duty 5: World at War.
"
People definitely haven't seen the final charge of the Red Army, people haven't seen what the fighting was like in Okinawa and I think it's definitely important to show those stories from a polished perspective rather than show some of the mopping up elsewhere in the world," continued Heller.
"
If we had time we might have shown the end of the war from many different country's perspectives, and maybe that's a story still untold."
Hmm. Do we really need another WWII game, really? Can't we have a break first? Let us know what you think in
the forums.

Seriously. How many games are there about that bloody war? I don't mean to be disrespectful to the people who died during the war, but ffs, stop with the games about the damned thing!
Vietnam games:...meh too much jungle to see anything...besides, the US lost...who wants to play (errr produce) that :D
Iraq:...too one sided (like WWII german invasion of Poland wouldn't be very exiting)
Israel vs...all it's neighbours...too one sided
Africa ...gazillions of small wars, but no real good side/bad side...uninteresting to produce.
Falklands ...probably nobody but the Brits remember this one :D ...also a bit one sided, though would offer good settings
Maybe:
Yugoslavia (Kroatia-Bosnia-Macedonia-Kosovo) ...too recent
...Otherwise it would make a good series though, setting like CoD4 only realistic
If you want to talk about conflicts that have been largely ignored, how about Korea? I can think of two games, one was Mig Alley (fab flight sim) and the other was a RTS type from a while ago who's title escapes me at the moment. But then again the Korean War is often referred to as the forgotten conflict so maybe Treyarch are simply sticking to what has proved to be popular.
The credits for that got me all excited when I read "William S" I was hoping to see 'hatner' :(
What country are the Yankees going to invade now? I guess they wanted to name COD6 "universe at war" but then again that is already taken...
cod4 stomped every modern shooter because the weapons were fun to use
obviously games like vegas give more realistic gun recoil etc
but weapons in modern warfare were the most balanced i have seen and thats what made it a better experience than cod2
and cod3 [the less said about that the better]
I would actually PREFER that the COD franchise stay in the WWII area.
There are a lot more battles to be done, and which should be done well.
UrbanMarine, true, we played as an American, English or Russian...a stint on the German side would also be a good slant...
vietnam is a good setting. lotsa foliage (read: pretty graphic), the US lost, but its somewhat even battle (good setting for PvP), it's not WW2.
This is dumb.
well duh, if pretty accurate BUT if they made it exactly like the events that took place then it wouldnt be as fun. =p
I would play.
...the Teenagers play multiplayer on the german side ;-) DIE AMI DIE!!!
Actually they don't care if they play germans, russians, brits or americans...they just run around and shoot to kill like all other teenagers in the rest of the world.
They have no identification with..."shooting their Grandfathers".
I usually play the Germans in WWII shooters though...
And NOD in C&C...
And The Empire in Star Wars...
Thee bad guys aren't usually better, but they're usually a lot cooler :D
