Grand Theft Auto 4 detailed for PC

Grand Theft Auto IV PC will boast better graphics, improved multiplayer and a new replay feature.

Rockstar has finally let slip the first few details of what gamers can expect in the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 4, promising that the game will see improvements to graphics and gameplay across the board.

In a preview with 1-UP, Rockstar revealed that the game will have better graphics for starters, with a maximum resolution of 2560x1600 as well as higher-res textures and a radically increased draw distance.

The PC version of the game will also get additions to the multiplayer mode too. Rockstar has only hinted about the specifics in the past, but now we know that the the PC version will support more than 16 players, which is the maximum the console version allow.

Unfortunately, there's no exact word on how many more players the PC version will allow, but Rockstar is also rebuilding the filtering options for the PC version too so it will be easier to find and access online matches.

If that weren't enough then Rockstar is also adding in a new Replay function which will constantly record the last 30 seconds of player activities, enabling you to capture and replay those really stunning stunts with ease.

Even better, these clips can then be edited together using an included montage editor before being uploaded to Rockstar's Social Club website.

There's still no release date or system requirements announced, but in the meantime you can check out our extensive review of the console version of the game or let us know your thoughts in the forums.

17 players online!

I hope it's more toward the '30' end of the scale.

High res GTA IV with AA will still be a disappointment. :(

Damn it, and I just bought an Xbox 360 to play GTA 4.

And it's not nearly as good as San Andreas. Oh well.

San andreas sucked compared to GTA4. I'm going to most likely get it again for the Pc just to play with my mates that don't have it on Xbox.

hopefully there will be mods to increase replay time and add to the view distance.

and my GOD Rockstar, make sure you make ALL the textures high-res. that's the most important part of a good PC game port: use that PC memory!

Playing GTA:SA was initially amazing. GTA IV is amazing too, maybe not to the level of awesome some people were expecting, but going back to play GTA:SA - SA feels flat, almost two dimensional by comparison. As long it looks good at 1920x1200, I'll be happy.

Vice City is still the king, then GTA: London.

GTA 4 was poor, graphics where far from special, and handeling was like trying to drive a drowned dog. It should have been London in my opinion. I don't think i will get this on PC, not unless Rockstar can pull something off pretty special.

Now, time to build dedicated server software.

GTA:SA was the closest thing (atleast in free-roam) to virtual civilisation reality since ever, now let's just hope the introduction to PC of this uber game/simulator will make it just as good, or as intended, better.

I'm a bit worried as to what Sam gets up to when he's bored...

Would be sweet if they add co-op play through the entire single player campaign.

I know, it's not going to happen... although, I can't wait to see what the modders come up with :P
