EA do not approve of such "juvenile" creations
When you give gamers the opportunity to create creatures of any shape and size, it was only inevitable that the juvenile teenager inside us all would rear his spotty head and start drawing knobs.
When the
Spore Creature Creator first hit over a month ago, YouTube was soon flooded with penis, testicle and boob monsters and for a time it was funny, but then we all got bored of the joke and moved on to the next
internet comedy masterpiece.
However, it now seems as though
Spore publisher EA has finally decided to act against the (sadly still) growing army of phallic monstrosities, and are working with YouTube to begin removing the offensive beasties from the net.
"
User-created content gives players total control over their game experience and empowers them to express their creativity in ways that they never thought possible," said Lucy Bradshaw,
Spore's executive producer."
[but] whether it's modelling clay, dolls or crayons, a small number of people can be counted on to use it for something vulgar."
Under the new system, players' YouTube and ingame
Spore accounts will first be warned, then suspended and then finally removed if players continue to post offensive material to the video sharing website, and in anticipation for the galaxy full of "inappropriate" creations, EA have implemented the ability in
Spore for you to chose what other creatures inhabit your in game universe, rather than sharing the universe with everyone elses creations, which was one of the great ideals behind the game in the first place.
Are EA right to censor users'
Spore creations? Will a universe of penis monsters spoil the game? Can gamers be trusted with such a high degree of creative freedom? Let us know what you think in the
forums.

Kind of figured that something like this would happen. either this or ship the game with premade creatures and block the ability to download user made content.
Absolute worst case scenario.. For players and EA's profit margins.
I would rather not have to deal with immature kid's creatures populating my game. Sure, it'd be funny to see one or two, but after a while it'd just get really lame and tireing of seeing the same penis/boob/sex creature ideas over, and over, and over. The worst part would be that there's probably going to be a LOT of them being created (there's already a lot, so imagine when more people get the full fledged game).
I think eventually it would ruin the game for me.
It's really sad to see what kind of immature and pathetic world we live in. Specially considering the majority of those creatures will be created by males.
I didn't mean for everyone. Just ship it with parental controls so that they can set the game to use premade creatures and not the user made ones. but for people like me I can still choose to download user made content if i want to. that way everyone is happy.
and the user made content has nothing to do with ea's profit margins. If parents see that a game is child friendly I would hope that they are more likely to buy it. Thus increasing game sales.
But wait, it's EA games. Who ever expected fairness, or quality out of them?
nt
No.. I meant that if they took away the user created content, plenty of people might not buy the game... I probably would become far less interested.

Made in England too, rofl.

There are no "real" cock monsters, so the probably wouldn't do so well.
Can't run very fast with youl balls hanging to the earth, can't fight very well if your cock is so big you can't reach past it...for instance
