Are there any PS2 games you'd desperately like to see made available on PSN?
Sony has responded to rumours indicating that it has been looking to bring downloadable PlayStation 2 games to the PlayStation Network, saying that there are currently no plans whatsoever to bring PlayStation 2 games to the PlayStation 3 in that manner.
Rumours that Sony would be bringing PS2 games to PSN first started when
images were leaked which supposedly showed a PlayStation 2 game store with games priced at around £12.99 each.
It turns out though that the images have been faked and Sony has no such plans.
"
At this point, we haven't made any announcements, and there are no plans for PS2 downloadable titles on PS3," said Sony's Patrick Seybold in a comment to
GamePro.
That the images were faked comes as no real surprise to us, as we try to maintain a healthy level of skepticism, but the idea of Sony not planning on pursuing the idea is fairly interesting, especially after the faff and controversy over the backwards compatibility options on the PlayStation 3.
How important is backwards compatibility to you? Would you pay £13 for a PSN version of
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty? Let us know in
the forums.

They could probably do it better than Microsoft, who's backwards compatibility (while there) leaves a lot to be desired.. hundreds of games still don't work on 360 (including Operation Flashpoint: Elite.. GGRRR).. And even the ones that do are often buggy (Mercernaries - go to the north west of the map.. and your game crashes... WTF?)..
you mean XII right?
it would be an excellent idea, and they're fools if they don't. I missed out on buying a ps2, ploughed all my money it pc gaming instead and i was absolutely gutted when they dropped the backwards compatibility of the ps3, haven't bought one because of it. if this happened, i probably would get one
mgs 1 2 3
I know the local 2nd hand store still sells more in ps2 games than any other console. Gets all new releases also.
