Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 detailed

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance will be set amid the Civil War storyline which reshaped the Marvel universe.

Details have been leaked of the new and upcoming sequel to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and comic fans will be happy to hear the skinny on the upcoming game for PC, PSP, DS, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.

Most startling of all is the fact that the game will be set during the Civil War storyline, which is one of the biggest comic events of the last decade.

The story for Civil War sees the superheroes of the Marvel universe being divided into two factions after a superhero-fueled accident leaves 700 innocent civilians dead and public opinion begins turning against the costumed vigilantes as a result. As the Government begins to force superheroes to register their powers and become licensed law enforcers the heroes are quickly divided - the Pro-registration heroes led by Tony 'Iron Man' Stark and the Rebels led by Steve 'Captain America' Rogers.

Civil War was one of the most exciting comic storylines and designers like Ken Levine have previously voiced a desire to build games around it as the arc changed the face of the Marvel universe in a single stroke, killing off many superheroes and pitting hero against hero in a huge battle.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance II will boast over twenty playable characters, including The Hulk, Wolverine, Venom and The Human Torch. Players will also be able to fuse the power of different heroes together to create new hybrid abilities.

Are you a big comic buff, or is this all kiddy stuff to you? Which is better Civil War or House of M? Let us know what you think in the forums.

Me too actually. I see it sometimes for PSP, but I'd prefer the PC version.

Me and a friend still play this regularly on Xbox 360 co-op. I loved the game, especially coming off my experience playing X-Men Legends II.

I have been tempted to purchase this game too but it doesnt seem to be stocked anywhere. When it is in stock, its still £40 which is great if its still selling for that as its very old now.

I picked up a copy of MUA1 a couple of months back from Amazon in a sale... I think it was £6.99 or something silly. I bought it mainly because I'd quite enjoyed X-Men Legends II, but I found MUA to be rather bland and uninspired... :( IMO, of course.

I can only pray it is better than the first game, that one sucked so badly that it almost created a black hole and destroyed the world. And no, I am not being sarcastic, I tried so hard to like the first game :(, but I couldn't it was just way to mickey mouse.

I am trying to have faith the second will be a great game.

I loved marvel ultimate alliance simply, because i love any game that has to do with marvel. There is tree things i want to see though 1) i cant wait for the idea of Civil War as the game and you must choose a side. 2) I hope there is a larger and more broad range of marvel character, like spike, gambit and X-23. 3) Finally, I hope the game takes me a week if not more to beat, because it only took me a day or two. But either way it is going to be great, weather the do Civil War or House of M. I counting down the dayssss.

I doubt very much any of the X-men will be involved. Emma Frost makes them go neutral in the Civil War, doesn't she?

Personally, I want to see the Thunderbolts bought in and play as Penance. It could be an interesting gameplay dynamic since his powers are pain activated.
