One million signatures to shut up Uwe Boll

One million sigantures - it's the only way to stop the onslaught!

Uwe Boll is an unpopular man - the type of person gamers love to hate. The German director has bought to the big screen adaptations of games like House of The Dead, Postal and Dungeon Siege and the results have been almost universally poorly received.

So, the question on the minds of many gamers is simple - how do we stop the Boll? The answer is simple - just sign your name on the list.

Speaking to FearNet recently, Uwe Boll had his attention drawn to an online petition geared at trying to stop him from making any more films. The bad news is that Uwe was a bit dismissive of the list, which has so far bagged about 18,000 signatures. The good news is that he let on how many signatures it would take to shut him up.

"18,000 is not enough to convince me," Boll told the interviewer. Then he was asked how many it would take to convince him. "One million. Now we have a new goal."

Personally, I'm not going to sign up. Half of that is sheer laziness, but the other half is that I actually enjoy coming back from the pub and laughing my way through his films with some friends. What about you though? Do you want to stem the flow, or open the floodgates? Let us know in the forums.

btw. one million is a lot, if it gets to 100.000 it is already much. But 10 times that seems like impossible.
but its about 1 1/2 vote per second now. I think it is slash dotted. It is going very fast. If you read this it would be over 38.000.

Except that didn't work as every film he has ever made has lost money, but he still got payed by screwing with the German tax laws. Though that rule has been changed now which is why he can't do any more big budget films anyway.

I think that its because he is ruining the credibility of an already shakey venture. Most video game movies suck, regardless of who has made them, and so production companies and producers become more and more hesitant to produce movies based on games. So I figure alot of people assume that if Uwe is gone, someone might be able to step up and make a serious movie from a game and give it one last chance at not sucking. (Resident Evil, Doom, Mortal Combat: Annihilation, Alone in The Dark, Aliens Versus Predator, BloodRayne, Street Fighter, Double Dragons........ I'm sure there are more.) In fact the only decent game-to-movie production I can think of is Silent Hill. (I also like the first Mortal Kombat, but that's just me.)

Either that or this just feels empowering.

P.S. -- All that being said, Wolverine, you're absolutely right. Don't like it, don't use it. In fact that can be applied to damn near any argument from violent video games to someone's favorite book to Mac-vs-Windows.

I hope Dungeon Siege isn't crap... was looking forward to seeing it. BTW, it can't be worse than another movie Jason Statham was in by the name of "Crank". Awful movie, too bad I bought the DVD before seeing it. So far "Crank" has been the only movie I've seen with him in it that truly was a waste of film.

In the name of the king is probably his film that has pissed me off the most because you can telll that it could have been at least passable. The story was there and the general conversion into a screenplay seemed to have gone well but then there was everything else, camera-work, the direction he was giving people. All the other film were irredeemable pieces of crap but In The Name Of The King could have been ok if he died before it went into production.

He may be clueless, but he's either smart or has some very serious self image issues. Why?
