Mass Effect banned in Singapore

Mass Effect has now been banned in Singapore because of this little blue babe...
Oh, and it's got a fair bit of sex in it too - ranging in extremity from the fairly tame to the admittedly-quite-spicy lesbian alien-on-human sexathons. We kid you not.
Unfortunately, not everyone is keen on the idea of alien and human gettin' jiggy wit' it. In fact, the game has now been banned in Singapore after officials have seen how it's, um, handled.
And, for the curious, we'll just cut to the chase and link you to a video of the most spicy of the relevant scenes. Be warned, it's a little NSFW even though the scene is quite tastefully done and it's good to see the developers haven't been explicit just for the hell of it.
There's very few details at the moment, but GameAxis Online is currently confirming that the game will not be available for sale in Singapore.

BUT! if they see a 'accidental' titty on the us telly.. boy that whole country is going crazy. And now singapore is joining them too.

Besides, if the game has a suitable age rating sticker, no problem... Oh wait.... No one cares about the age rating (not even the parents).

indeed, but some parents do.... the responsible type.... the ones that are rare.
anyway, i think this is kind of exaggerated...... let me rephrase that: this is as exaggerated as banning hands because of a 1 finger salute.
That was the most disappointing thing Ive seen since tony Blair stepped down from being prime minister (and then Gordon brown stepped up - sigh)
I have no idea about censorship alltogether, but I've understood them to mainly ban shocking, unsuitable and politically "wrong" stuff. This doesn't seem to fulfil any of those characteristics.
Shame on you, Singapore.
They've already rated it, it's a 12, and TBH from what I saw on that video a 12 rating is fine (incidentally I think this is the first time I think I've seen them slap a rating below a 15 on a game, I didn't think they bothered with anything below that). When I was 12 I watched more shocking material on the likes of Buffy, etc.
I've not actually had a chance to play Mass Effect yet. I've been far too busy focusing on Crysis for now since we are primarily a PC site. The only time I've touched the final code has been to help Riyad figure out how to use the menus properly. From what I've seen though it looks fantastic, but I think all 3rd person zoomed in RPGs have trouble with scale Cities and so on can't be too big without being overwhelming. I worry that will be true for Mass Effect and I also think that the gameplay is a bit boring.
If you're (anyone) interested in contributing game reviews to bit-tech by the way then feel free to drop me an email. I'm looking for people I can rely on and there's only so much I can do myself. I can't promise money off the bat, but there's definitely free games a'plenty waiting...
Same thoughts here. I was completly disapointed when I spent 6 hours buffering on Gamevideo.com and all I got was that. I see people in the street with facial expression like that. Maybe they should wear a bag over their head if they walk around sinagpore or they will get deported lol.
Well i bought it today so I shall give you my poor contribution of either it is ok but I still will give it back when it's done, it's crap or really cool and worthwhle everyone with a 360 buying it. Or I will be nice to you and try and write a proper review.
