Malcom from UT3 says: "I pity tha fool...but I'll have to do it next year, maybe."
Midway, publisher of
Unreal Tournament 3, has said that the PS3 version of the game may suffer a delay as Epic rushes to finish the game. The PS3 port may not go gold in time for Christmas after all.
Unreal Tournament 3 was originally slated for a November release on the PC and PlayStation 3. An Xbox 360 version of the game was supposed to follow in early 2008 after the timed PS3 exclusive had expired.
Midway has also announced that
Blacksite: Area 51 has also been delayed a little, but has not revealed until when.
Epic Games, developer of
Unreal Tournament 3 has
said that it's struggling to get the PS3 version of the game finished in time for Christmas but that it is committed to making a complete game and doesn't want to rush the process in order to launch at Christmas.
Mark Rein, studio boss and mouthpiece for Epic, has said "
As a public company, Midway felt an obligation to its shareholders to let them know about the possibility of a delay, but our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007."
Rein says that Epic isn't offering any guarantees though and that the game may well slip as Midway have projected. The PC version is still on track for a November release.
Is
UT3 on your list of must-have games for the future or are you still holding out hope and saving pocket money for a release of
Duke Nukem Whenever? Will you be playing
UT3 with or without the
physics hardware it has been optimised for? Let us know
in the forums.

sucks to see games getting delayed and delayed, especially with highly anticipated ones like ut3... maybe they should all just put out a its done when its done instead of unreliable dates...
Not strictly true for there is RFoM and Warhawk which are very good on PS3 plus a couple of multiplatform titles that will provide enough FPS to be getting on with, UT3 will be nice but its not like the PS3 is as starved of games as people on here think.
Unfortunately you cannot use Mouse and Keyboard in those games (although I have not tried, perhaps I should) the PS3 like the X360 only uses controllers unless the game has been programmed otherwise. I have my Logitech G15, Razer diamondback mouse and Logitech webcam (only mic works on PS3) on a switchable 4 port USB hub between PS3 and PC and PS3 picks all devices up fine and they work in XMB for messaging etc.
So you have to use Sixaxis which takes some gettting used to as the analog sticks aren't as tight as 360 but once you've got used to it the games are great, large open maps like 32 player BF2, no dodgy pop in or slow down, all very fast.
A physcard is not necessary for me.
Would this game's sys reqiurement be higher than Crysis?
they explained their problems with the 360 too.
But still this might be interesting, they still need to hold contract with Sony meaning that the 360 version will be released even later.
Sorry about that!
Yes it is, I've got one
Sad to see, but I'll pick it up on PC anyway so meh
More worried about GT and GTA
Oh thank God. Been waiting for UTIII since early 2005 ;).
(Of course I'm now likely to be disappointed when I find out it's been over hyped etc. etc.)
no you won't. just don't think/read/watch anything UT3 related until it's released and you'd be fine.
thank god PC version isn't delayed.
You scared me there :P
No it has Plenty for a machine that hasn't even been out a year. Sure if you have both 360 and PS3 then there isn't a lot to differentiate between them bar there exclusives but not every one has both and reading these forums you'd think the PS3 had no games when in fact that is not the case.
Trouble is I already have a 360 and a good gaming PC, so nothing stands out as something I want to play on my PS3 I'm afraid
The unfortunate truth is you've just described the majority of games released on anything over the past couple of years and due to increasing costs of development and publishers not wanting to take risks doesn't look set to change. :( The exception probably being indie PSN/Live titles.
I am, or I wouldn't have bought it. It's an awesome bit of kit and Blu-Ray playback is superb :)
Gears, Bioshock and a few other games come to mind of good games on the 360 where the PS3 has a big gap
I really cannot be bothered to post in this thread any more, for fear of being accused of being a 360 fanboy for saying the PS3 doesn't have any killer titles yet!! :(
Titles, coming out by or before the 1-year debut of the PS3, that stand out to me are: Clive Barker's Jericho, Folklore, Rachet & Clank, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Conan, Guitar Hero III, Stranglehold, CODIV, Bladestorm, Army of Two, Assassin's Creed, Beowulf, The Orange Box, Haze, etc.
The PS3 is a great console and I'm not biased against it at all, but its undeniable that it is the weakest of the currently available consoles on a games front.
I understand that the PS3 is the weakest console as of right now when compared to the 360 (don't compare it to the Wii, please), but like I've said before: the PS3 doesn't even have a year under it's belt and just like the PS2, a console should last more than just 3-4 years, so people should remember that and not just keep looking in the now with the 360, but also in the future. In regards to the titles that I listed (some of them not being your thing which I understand), that's of course your opinion, but those titles are going to be fun and they are going to show off what the PS3 has to offer making them "stand out" from currently released games.
Just my opinion :D
See here's where I was coming from :)
The thing is, right now PS3 just hasn't got many games I want to play/buy, and in making a decision to buy; say PES 2008 on the PS3 instead of the 360 I feel I'm missing out, certainly on Xbox Live play and hell even stupid gamer score points give games a little more lifetime.
However, I really cannot wait for Haze, which is a stand out title imo...it's just that no other games are out there that makes me think "I must get a PS3 for <insert game title here>", whereas if I were to be new in the console market right now I see quite a few reasons to get an Xbox 360. It does depend on taste in games as well I agree. Trouble is I have a pretty damn fine PC too, so titles like UT3 will be played on PC instead of PS3, and who else can't wait for Crysis? :D
At the moment the very best thing about the PS3 is BluRay...and that's my opinion
Haze is the game I want when it's out, and I will probably get PES 2008 if the PS3 version doesn't miss out any big features. Might pick up UT3 for playing against my mates when they're round too. The PS3's in the lounge so it's in a more social place than the 360 which is hooked up to my PC screen in the computer room.
lol umm link

I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I know some of you have some sense.
Yep. They suffer a terrible image because the stupidest, most bigoted people are also the loudest and most vocal...and the president, for some reason :-|
