Crysis demo is delayed

Cevat Yerli has revealed that the Crysis demo will be delayed until the end of October.

We have learned this morning that Crytek has delayed the single player demo for Crysis until October 26th.

Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek, said that “we are taking some extra time to make sure that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November 16th, we had to make this call.”

To compensate for the delay though, Yerli said that the demo will come complete with the CryEngine 2 Sandbox game editor. This, Yerli says, will give the community “the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal four weeks before we ship, something we have always wanted to do.”

This will no doubt upset the many PC gamers eagerly awaiting the demo’s release, which was originally scheduled for tomorrow – the same day that Halo 3 is released. Frankly though, it’s completely understandable if it means keeping the original launch plan alive.

take your time make sure things are perfect on release i really wouldnt mind them delaying the whole thing ( i know sounds obsurd) so long as they get it spot on

i personally think they could have released a buggy demo with half of intended, but say it's unfinished product, then release a real demo with the rest of intended level (or an update to the first demo) when the game is released

To release a demo isn't just a case of whacking a few levels in a zip file and just sticking it on the net. It takes time and effort. The same time and effort that is far better spent on making the full game work.

this does suck, but everyone (including me) knows that this game must shine for PC gaming to regain its 1337ness. This game should be proof of what current top-of-line PC technology can offer, not only in terms of graphical prowess, but gameplay as well, so take all the time you need Crytek until that November release date.....I will need a reason to upgrade this Xmas.....
