You can't hide in that shield-shell forever, Master Chief. You've gone gold, don't-you-know!
It's official -
Halo 3 has just gone gold and is now on its way to manafacturers and disc-makers everywhere.
For those not in on the gaming lingo, 'gold' is the penultimate stage of a games development. First comes the Alpha, then the Betas, finally it 'goes Gold', meaning the game is finished and in production, then the game hits the shelves - but given how massively anticipated
Halo 3 is, we doubt it'll stay on the shelves for very long.
Further chronicling the adventures of Master Chief and The Arbiter as they try to stop the alien forces of The Covenant and the deadly Flood from destroying all human life, the release is now only a few weeks away.
The game, which has been in development for three years at Bungie Studios, recently set new records as the fastest preordered game in history, exceeding a million preorders in North America alone.
Halo 3 is going to be available worldwide for the Xbox 360 on September 25th - the same day that the
Crysis PC demo will hit the 'net.
So, which game do you give your attention to? It's a tough choice to make between the most graphically accomplished game ever seen and the continuing console battles of a robotic man and an alien - thankfully though we've previewed both
Crysis and
Halo 3 for you, so you can get more info before you decide.
“This is the game we’ve always wanted to make and certainly the best game our studio has developed. We can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on it." Said Harold Ryan, Studio Head at Bungie Studios about the impending release.
Do you have a favourite
Halo game, or do you think the whole series is over-hyped and a bit weak? Let us know in

I'm sooooo going to Dual Spiker your ass to the walls
Now unless im mistaken, and various places on tiniternet are wrong, the UK release is the 26th of September, not the 25th, 25th would be the US launch, not ours unfortunatley.
Still, can't wait for this game, well, i can, i just go to work till its release, and never go back till i complete it.

Edit: Here is the groovy Halo 3 XBOX 360 version found here:
Doug I will drive you voer with my chopper
...Not according to the official press release, detail a worldwide release on the 25th...
Not before I brute grenade you in the head
*squelch*
Back in 2001 i bought a Xbox on launch day just to play Halo, was rabid with excitement for Halo 2....but Halo 3 is simply not doing it for me.
I guess Halo 2 and its shortcomings left scars.
Nah I liked it in the Halo 3 beta, it was deffinitely improved a lot, loads more detail on the armour and stuff, but GoW graphics just wouldn't fit, thats not what Halo looks like. And yes, they have worked on the graphics since the beta, they do look a lot more "next gen" now.
I thought it was :|
He meant to say
Bloody foreigners ;)
Ok, fair enough, i will beleive it when it arrives at my door:P
Sam
ditto.
xbox360 = $399
PC game = $49.99
im cheap.
The Forge mode in mulitplayer sounds like a right laugh.
Wow, could you be any more ignorant.
So how do you intend to play this pc game without a pc? Oh yeh, PC = $2000
To answer the pc question, it'll probably be about 2 years
Well I think the ignorant one is you right there, as it's pretty obvious he has a PC but not an XboX360 so if he wants to play Halo3, then he'd have to buy an XboX360 even though he already has a perfectly sound PC potentially capable of playing Halo3.
And yea, most likely 2 years, and it'll be "<insert new Windows name here> only" and a very shitty port just like Halo2Vista was/is :p
Mouse/ Keyboard > Joypad any day imo :)
