According to Crytek, Crysis could be seeing a port to consoles after a few optimization tweaks.
We've seen a lot of good-looking games in the last few months, a lot of which are aimed heavily at a PC audience.
World in Conflict,
Bioshock and
Project Offset just to name a few.
Still, there's one game which is standing head and shoulders above the rest - the PC exclusive, juggernaut of gorgeous that is
Crysis.
However, in a retraction of
previous statements, Crytek boss Cevat Yerli has told
CVG that
Crysis could soon see a port to next-gen consoles.
Although Yerli had previously said that consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360 may not be able to handle a game like Crysis, Cevat is now on the record as saying that the game may be available to our joypad-wielding brethren too. Honestly, we're a little disappointed that we may have to share
Crysis with console gamers - we kind of hope we'd get to keep hold of
Crysis as a PC-only game.
CVG later added an update to the story as Yerli wanted to give himself a way to backtrack out of a potentially sticky mess and explained that the PC version is still a definite focus for the game.
"It requires optimization, that's what we've always communicated. What you would not do is make Crysis on PS3, 360 and PC for a single shipping date, because we would lose the quality focus."
Which version would you rather play, given the chance? Console or PC? Why is it that the console gamers get all the good exclusive games, but nobody wants to make a PC only title anymore? Discuss these and other important things
in the forums!
its far more simple to just put in a game into a console and play! or is it the laziness of the playstation owning "casual gamer" (also known as "sheep", cos they will follow any piece of crap that sony pumps out as they are not able to think for themself) that is ruinning pc gaming.
Are you people seriously saying you'd rather play Crysis on a console?
What i do find a shame. Is the let down of the group of pc users that made all of those game companys big in the first place. And all of the people who bought expensive hardware to play next gen games that will feel let down by those companies.
I'll hold judgment on that till I play Metroid with a Wiimote and nunchuk :D
For real! I almost cried when I found the Halo 2 menus hammered w/ yellow and blue buttons. We waited how many years to play on the pc? And now they expect me to buy a controller? Ugh...
And in freak occurrence, I just flipped over the page of my copy of PCG UK that came yesterday and found the interview section both comments are from :
Sounds to me like CVG quoted one part, then another, just to make a bit of fuss over nothing ?
that do well in both pc and console environments (adventure/rpg). Shooters has always been in the realm of
PCs. There are some shooters I have to admit that played well in consoles. But Crysis, imo should stay in the PC - I doubt that even optimizations, consoles would deliver the experience that was originally meant by the developers.
Our concern should not be PC games beeing ported to consoles, but that many games are developped for consoles, and then either looking poor on PC, or beeing awkward to control.
