Rockstar favours 360 for GTA IV

Rockstar's Hosi Simon confirms that the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV will be more complete than the PS3 version.

There's a lot of confusion going on about the different versions of Grand Theft Auto IV, with numerous parties telling numerous stories about the differences and/or similarities between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 copies. Throughout it all though the game developer, Rockstar, has been tight-lipped and has tried it's best not to tip the balance by favouring Sony over Microsoft, or vice versa.

Those days of keeping schtum are now at an end.

In a recent interview over at Games Radar, Rockstar's Hosi Simon has dropped the ball.

Though Hosi starts off assuring gamers that it doesn't matter which platform they play on, he soon makes it clear where the hardcore will find the 'complete experience';

"They're identical games. We're not hardware makers, and we're not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want."

Wait for it...

"But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose."

Still, at least he keeps his cool and still sounds all casual as he breaks the news that PS3 gamers will be getting the short straw in the eyes of the game designers.

Will you be picking GTA IV up for a console or will you be waiting for the inevitable PC port further down the line? Let us know - which you can do either through the forums or the comments section.

Of course he'll say that, Microsoft bought the episodic content.

I'll still buy the Ps3 version. :) if nothing else it'll save my ear drums having the PS3 turned on and the 360 off.

Why he had to sugar coat it I don't know. One for in the eye for us PS3 owners :(

So basically he's said what everybody else has been saying since MS bought the rights to the episodes

Sony have always gunned for exclusives in the past, I have a feeling they are trying to get some good publicity by saying they will not buy exclusivity. This time I think Rockstar see the PS3 market is too small to break even, a nice move and Microsoft have probably given them a bit of 'help' in return for these 360 exclusives.

He would say that as MS paid them millions. I dont think ill be buying it for my 360 as I have always played GTA on Playstation so this will be one of my first games on PS3 when I get the PS3. Maybe ill change my mind if I really get the urge to have it when it comes out then maybe it might be 360. I did buy GTA3 and Vice City on Xbox but never seemed to enjoy it as much as the original PS2 versions.

They also know that Xbox live is alot better than Playstions varient, but then, live has had a few years to mature.
Anyway, i will be buying it for my 360, and i hope its gonna be as good as the previous GTA's

So...

Now all the PS3 noobs shout: "He is paid to say that"
And all x360 noobs yell: "See the x360 is way ubernoob then ps3"

Put this on some kiddie invested console forum and all hell breaks loose.

But this is bit-tech so i would say that my pc would own them both...

:D

Does episodic content we won't see till next year for what is, at it's core a complete game already really mean that much of a huge factor? How many of you will actually buy that content and how many of you are just co-signing just because it will be there?

As nice as this looks I'll give it a shot when the inevitable Game of the Year release comes some time in 2008 with all the updates, that seems to be the theme these days, but then I've never played a GTA so don't know what I'd be missing so I can be patient. :D

i will wait for the pc version of course, that and multiplayer :D.

i want to see the differences between the ps3 and xbox360 version in terms of graphic quality.

I think it'll better on the 360 because of the Achievement's... they can come up with some really cool stuff to do with a GTA game. Plus there is a that slight feeling/drive to complete the mini games when you seemly get something out of it.
Snaek 26th July 2007, 14:39 Quote
I've always found the GTA games much more fun on the PC. I'll probably get the 360 version so I don't have to wait though.

The Darkness on PS3 shipped with Accomplishments (Sony's version of Achievements)...If 2k was smart enough to include it while it is not fully supported by the PSN I bet Rockstar will have them as well.

Why the hell would it favour the Xbox 360? I'll get the PC/PS3 version instead, thank you. F**got. There's a whole lot of pretentious change of heart going on.
devdevil85 26th July 2007, 19:45 Quote
for all we know, the PS3 version could have extras of its own coming out right after its debut....you never really know now with all of the future updates/installments you can d/l nowadays....honestly as long as the core game/storyline is there I really don't care about the "extras" unless it's maybe the *cough* coffee *cough* shop......extra.....*/cough*

No, not more complete. Techincally, if it includes all the main game, then its complete. It will have more extras than the PS3 version.

Either way, I had enough problems with the 360 I had, so I don't want anything else to do with them.
themax 26th July 2007, 21:59 Quote
It's no more "complete" than Ultimate Alliance is on all 3 consoles. To my knowledge only the 360 (or it might be all now) has the Villain and Hero packs, yet noone really made a fuss over it.
Demon Cleaner 26th July 2007, 22:26 Quote
I'll be buying the 360 version. But they are both exactly the same bar the optional mission packs (which will inevitably cost extra). Guess it comes down to which controller you prefer.

Resistance : FOM and Rainbow Six: Vegas shipped with achievements too. Or something. But it's the same idea.

Regarding GTA, who cares? This may be relevant to the 0.1% of the gaming population that has both a X360 and a PS3. The rest of us will get whatever version there's available to our console. And I can't understand why this is such a big deal...yeah, us PS3 owners lose some extra content...so what? It's not like GTA games ship with 5 hours long gameplay. If it were an exclusive or timed exclusive for the X360, I could understand some people being pissed...but really, how many people are going to choose one platform or the other because of a couple of extra missions in a single game?
Iago 27th July 2007, 11:21 Quote
Btw, we really need an "edit" button. I forgot to make some snarky comments wondering if the "complete" experience includes some RRoDs after 10 hours of play and all that...
DougEdey 27th July 2007, 11:26 Quote
there is an edit button, bottom right of your post

I refer Sam to GTA2, which sucked on any platform...
