Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be available on all consoles in Spring 2008. No PC version is yet announced.
LucasArts has been a bit controversial over the last few years, with many gamers considering that they are solely responsible for allowing the
adventure game genre to die after the utterly fantastic
Grim Fandango and focusing far too much on creating quick and nasty
Star Wars games.
Still, the new
Star Wars game looks like a nice change of pace from
Star Wars: Yoda Stories.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be hitting all consoles and handhelds, including the PlayStation 2 this time next year and tells the story of Darth Vader's secret apprentice, who must search out and kill all the remaining Jedi. No PC or Wii version is yet announced, but if it doesn't see a PC port at some point then we'll...well, we'll cry. Lots.
Reassuringly, some retailers still recently listed the game as being playable on XP.
Set between
Revenge of The Sith and
A New Hope the game will star characters both new and old and is being written by Chris Armstrong. Players will get a chance to use a range of weapons and lightsabers, including new force powers of devastating potential - as proved by the opening sequence in the trailer where the player character uses Force Pull to crash a Star Destroyer into a planet.
As you do.
The game will also function as a showcase for
Pixelux's Digital Molecular Matter engine which has been developed by a number of designers especially for the game and which allows complex telekinesis force powers to interact with an incredibly detailed environment. The game itself will run on the Euphoria Engine.
In usual LucasArts style though, the game won't be a stand-alone product. Instead, it will get a tie-in novel, comic book, toy line, reference book and pen and paper RPG game.
All we need now is a
Wii lightsaber game and
a Star Wars PC!

I've seen stuff better then that coming from final year and masters students at our Uni. I reckon they're holding back or they have some major bugs (except for the obvious one where the wood turns 90 degrees and falls through the holder).
It's easy to make stuff better than that but integrating something more complex into their game engine might be more work than they are willing to do. Remember that at the end of the day they need to make profit on the game so spending too much time getting some wood to break correctly is a waste of time/money.
:| i think that is awesome and realistic.... you are a sith anyway..... and kids..... they are less enthusiastic about starwars than adults these days (at least here)... they are more into watching big brother clones and porn, having unprotected sex and kicking the crap out of each other in the most sadistic way possible....
Looks like a good game though.

maybe the apprentice rebels......
No good dirty rotten console exclusivesÂ… >:(
As for the story, i don't mind that this guy wasn't mentioned in the books/films, if its a good story and done well, then who cares?
Saw a cool concept picture on the production video, with Tonfa-style Light Sabres, very smart indeed.
This could the game to spur me into buying a next gen (unless it comes out on PC ofc)
Well it says the game is set between episode 3 and 4. Which means that the "storm troopers" are actually not under Sith control. they are the clone army that fought for Yoda and the gang at the end of episode 3.
By the time Anakin becomes Darth Vader the clone troopers are already under Palpatine's control, therefore it doesn't make sense >.>
looks like an awesome game but i'm still a bit puzzled at the whole storyline/plot
so ive been researching and have tried to pry as much info as i can just from the vidz.....

hope this kinda helps! if i find out more i will post it!
Still doesn't make sence that a secret apprentice has never been mentioned before now?!
He's Darth's "secret" apprentice. The LucasArts guy said that since the Empire declared all jedi to be enemies, the Stomrtroopers don't know that the apprentice is on their side, but only that he qualifies as a "jedi" and is to be killed on sight. According to an interview (it's on IGN I think) no one, except Vader of course, knows who the guy is anyway.
Thanks fivecheebs, makes more sense now.
