3D Realms' Creative Director, Raphael Van Lierop, loves to tease us gamers, but sometimes he takes it a little too far. This is one of those times.

In a recent Q&A with Gamasutra, Raphael dropped a bit of a insider news about 3D Realms' line-up for this year;

"I can say that we have a big announcement coming in the next four weeks, and I'm not sure, but I believe we have another major announcement coming in the next four to six months."

Yep, good-o Mr. Lierop. That all sounds great to us; a nice bit of juicy gossip about what we can expect this year. Oh, by the way - is there any chance that one of these games could be to do with everyones favourite machismo-filled hero?

"...while I can't say exactly what these announcements are, are they about Duke Nukem Forever? No."

So, apparently 3D Realms would rather focus on two new games than finish the one game that has become synonmous with it.

Duke Nukem Forever has now been in development for over ten years and was officially announced on April 27th, 1997. Since then it has swapped from the Quake II engine to the Unreal engine and is now apparently built on a home-made engine which the developers built up from scratch. It has also switched from the Karma physics engine to the Meqon engine and has had numerous problems and negotiations with publishers due to its constant delays.

Recently, small thumbnail pictures have been posted on adverts for jobs at 3D Realms and the company has confirmed that these have been screenshots from the game.

In the past, CEO Scott Miller has stated that as soon as DNF is finished they will begin work on the sequel.
