Uwe Boll tries to auction off a chance to work on the Far Cry movie with him and his...duck?
Uwe Boll is a franchise-destroying God, making even sub-par games like
Bloodrayne and the controversial
Postal 2 even worse through association with his frankly awful movies. Thankfully, all he's managed to do so far is film adaptations of already bad games, though that's all about to change with his latest venture.
The German film maker is already making a movie of the cheesy, but gorgeous,
Far Cry with a planned release of 2008.
There are several odd things to note about the film adaptation of Jack Carver's tropical romp, the first being that Uwe Boll reportedly bought the rights to the movie before the game was even released and the second being that the director is so short of actors he has tried to
sell a role via eBay.
The auction, which is in German,
reportedly states that the successful buyer will get five days on set with the team, but they would have to cover the costs of the flight and accommodation themselves. Gee, what a bargain - pay money to go to Canada to be in a tropical action film, to pay more money to hang around with the
world's worst director since Ed Wood.
Bidding started at €2,498, or £1,695, though if it has any takers then we'll subject ourselves to actually watching the film on it's release - that's how dubious we are anybody will pay to work with Uwe Boll.
Can film adaptations of computer games be any good, or are they all doomed from conception? Would pay to work with Uwe Boll, or do you plan to boycott his movies? Let us know
in the forums, as usual.

One of the actors is Till Schweiger which some of you maybe know as the baldheaded viking from King Arthur. Back in the days he was kinda funny but now he tries to be a bad guy and its just not working out.
Sequels can be better, but let's be honest, most aren't...
A few spring to mind:
Jaws 2
Episode 1 *spits*
The Matrix - Reloaded and Revolution
Conan The Destroyer
Speed 2 (Although the first one was pretty crap)
MI:2 & 3
Blues Brothers 2000
C&C: Generals
UT2003
Splinter Cell: DA
Vietcong 2
That's just to name a few...
Epic don't even recognise that as a complete game anymore, they just say "Look at UT2004"
Other than that you're right. I would'nt trust Uwe Boll to do the video for a wedding never mind a motion picture.
on topic - ya know, i'd think maybe some aspiring young actor will maybe fall for this as they see it as their 'shot at the silver screen' ...time will tell ...has any director ever done this before with ebay!?
New trilogy ;)
DIE MANY TIMES IN A PAINFUL WAY KTHX.
I can picture some rich gamer bidding on it in the hope of catching Boll alone with a baseball bat
It was, the third one was the crappy one.
as a note the second and third matrix sucked as the wachowski brothers borrowed most of the first movie script, and they definately couldn't write anything that good for the 2nd or third. they just cashed in on the visual effects and the popularity.
at any rate Uwe boll gives video game to movie deals a bad name. I wonder though if his work is as terrible as it seems ( I haven't watched any) how is he still in buisness? I mean directors have had their careers ended over movies that were much better reviewed than Uwe Boll movies. But then again even waterworld was financially successful and that was the biggest box office flop of its time
It's to do with German Tax law. I did a bit of research into him a while ago foir an article for another magazine and basically the german government will pay for a substantial part of his movies costs and give him certaintax breaks because game/movie things count as art.
Which bring us to...:

Postal 2 is hilarious XD (and fantastic in every way).
I didn't know there was a movie - it must have been terrible.
Obviously, you sir wouldn't know a good movie if it slapped you in the face with a hippo.
Never underestimate the power of desperate narcissistic dork gamers with lots of cash to burn. :)
