Enemy Territory: Quake Wars coming to PS3, XB360

"C'mon, this way!" - The war against the Strogg will soon be on the 360 and PS3, too.

Activision has really been turning some heads in the gaming world as of late. The company has really been making moves to expand franchises past their exclusive systems, such as allowing Guitar Hero to move to the Wii. Though it may not win over the hearts of some console makers, it sure has been a great move for gamers - and now a new title has been added to the list.

PC gamers have been looking forward to Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for quite some time, and with good reason. The footage released as teasers for the game looks absolutely brilliant, with some beautiful graphics. Of course, the title has been one of those things PC gamers have been loving to lord over console owners - until now.

It appears that Activision wants to expand the franchise for those who don't own a top-end PC, so there will be a port for both the XBox 360 and the PS3 released at the same time as the PC. Of course, the PC will likely provide the best ET:QW experience...but Gears of War (among other titles) has truly illustrated how good the 360 can be, so I doubt anyone will be suffering.

The ports will each be managed by a different developer, which raises a lot of questions while at the same time providing some relief. First, it's clear that no one title will be a total "port," where it would likely suffer optimisation issues. But will they be the same game? Or compatible for multiplayer? Will the 360 and PC versions fit into the new XBox Live ideal? Only time will tell...

Have you got a thought on the move? Are you looking forward to the game in general? Let us know your thoughts in our forums.

I just hope they dont go and gimp it for the console gamers and in the process ruin it for PC gamers. I also hope that online play doesn't include Xbox360 players, because while they would be ridiculously easy to kill I'm sure that would get old fast.

I wish they didn't take this route. I just hope they don't delay the PC version because of the console versions coming out. I like my 360, but still prefer my PC for fps games by far. This is one of the games I am looking forward to the most this year, I hope they don't screw it up.

makes buisness sense as triple A title games are getting expensive to make and this looks like a hot seller, besides the minute graphical differences porting in my mind might only be an obstacle when the gamemechanics are changed slightly such that so and so can't be done on one platform as it can on another.

The big game titles are indeed expensive to produce, but lets not forget the gaming industry(on all fronts) is growing massively year by year. While costs are increasing, the ability to make these high cost games is only there because the publishers and other people who leech get rich of the games industry have the funds to put into the expensive games.

So long as it doesn't compromise gameplay(all parts) then it's fine. When games start to be made less good for all parties just so the pubs can sell it to everyone and make more money off a crappier product, that is when a problem exists.
