Episode Two will launch in Autumn of this year.
Updated:
Since this article was originally published earlier today, the press release from Electronic Arts UK has been updated to state that the release will actually happen some time in "Autumn", rather than the original "Winter" timeframe outlined in the original press release.
Valve and Electronic Arts have announced that Half-Life 2: Episode Two, along with Team Fortress 2 and Portal, will ship together this Autumn.
The game will launch in two boxes: the black box will ship for the PC only, while the orange box will ship for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Both boxes will have Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2, but the orange box will also include Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One.
In November, we learned that Episode Two
had already been pushed back from its original Q1 2007 release date to "summer 2007", but the latest news suggests that Episode Two won't launch until even later in the year.
Either that, or Valve and EA has cleverly worded the statement made by the two companies. Here's a clip from the original statement:
"Electronic Arts, the world’s leading interactive entertainment company, and Valve, the award-winning studio behind the blockbuster franchises Half-Life and Counter-Strike, today announced the naming and product configurations The Black Box and The Orange Box, two of the most anticipated action game offerings shipping worldwide this Winter 2007."
The press release issued by Electronic Arts UK was updated this evening to reflect what appears to be a mis-understanding on EA / Valve's part, with the release now slated for Autumn 2007.

This episodic content thing doesn't seem to be going as well as planned. Weren't they originaly talking about a few months between each episode? so far it been pretty much anually, which, while quick for a good game, its a bit slow considering the length of these games and the episodic ideal they're working towards.
crap
Ep1 was too short as well... considering it cost so much
:'(
Haven't played any of the half-lives "pity me"
Episodic content is just not working, the schedules are just too tight to make the game.
I'm slowly coming to agree with the naysayers of episodic content. It's a great idea, but it just isn't working.
Spring from Mar 21 to Jun 21
Summer from Jun 21 to Sep 21
Autumn from Sep 21 to Dec 21
At least in the Northern hemisphere. Add 6 months for southern seasons.
I'd agree with other comments about episodic content: SiN was pulled, Half Life seems to have 18 months between episodes. It just isn't working.
But what's taking the time? The engine is already there (barring a few update for multicore stuff etc), the models are already there (barring the introduction of any new creatures). Does the storyline and level design really take that long?
Or are they being held back so they can have the console releases at the same time? :(
A rumour hit me last week saying that it was being picked up by another development house.
the slower their production. In any case here in the usa
autum or fall as we say is in september so I suppose thats when episode 2 will be released.heres hoping stocker makes it on 3/22/07
I just really hope ep3 isn't the end of hl, there needs to be a hl3 (maybe it's already in development? but maybe not :P ) which is as long as hl2.
