"Fire away!" - Gears of War has gone gold!
Even those of us philistines who don't own an Xbox 360 are drooling at the upcoming release of
Gears of War. And why not? From all accounts, it's graphically gorgeous, incredibly intelligent, and could be a fantastic way to wile away hours of your time.
And now,
[H]ard|OCP reports Epic's beauty has gone gold in plenty of time to make its November 12th release date. Expect to see a lot of coverage via XBox Live channels as we get closer, too - launch day will even include a 24 hour tournament. The winner of the tourney will get a
Gears of War guitar and a spot on the worldwide tournament in a year.
Along with the rated matchups, players will be able to win other prizes in an hourly sweepstakes, including a surround sound system. There will also be matches against members of the band Megadeth and the designer of
Gears, Cliff Bleszinski. Overall, it should be a fairly jam-packed launch.
Are you looking forward to the game? How about the high-scale launch day festivities? Tell us your thoughts in the forums.
Wow, that certainly ties in with the game theme :|
OK, so I'm jealous because I have no chance in getting the guitar; I'll just have to make do with buying the game instead.
1. Either they are so sure their game is amazingly good that they feel as though they can sell it on hype and it's own greatness.
2. Or they know the game doesn't live up to its hype so they want people to buy it before they find out it's a dud.
Yes, this is the game I'm getting a 360 for. And Mass Effect, but that's next year.
Demos can sometimes be completely different to the game, so as not to give too much away. Epic may have decided that to take time to develop the demo would take time away from meeting their 17th November launch date, and decided not to?
Of course, there's always the confidence in their product thing, or knowing it's terrible, but I doubt it's going to suck. At least, I hope it's not going to suck, been excited since I saw the first screenies of the game :D
