Just in case you missed the news yesterday - Valve have signed a distribution deal with Electronic Arts.

Yes, you read that right. After its bust-up with former publisher Vivendi, who presided over record sales of Half-Life and Half-Life 2, future iterations of the title will be published by EA.

Of course, future PC versions will also be available on Steam, the main reason why Vivendi was rather annoyed at Valve in the first place.

The deal sees EA publishing the console version of the game, due up later this year, as well as the retail version of the Aftermath expansion pack, also due later this year.

Interestingly, EA are famous for tying in with NVIDIA's The Way It's Meant To Be Played scheme, with PCWorld stores in England sporting joint EA / NVIDIA marketing material. With Valve so close to ATI, we could be in for some interesting shenanigans.

Many people have strong feelings about the way EA does business - what are your thoughts on this deal? Do you feel caught between Steam & a hard place?
