The Nexus One is certainly a snazzy handsets - but many T-Mobile customers are experience major connectivity issues.
Google's first own-branded entry into the mobile 'phone market - the Android-powered Nexus One, manufactured by HTC - might be making a splash with its high-resolution screen and super-fast processor, but not everyone is happy.
According to an article over on
Electronista, customers on T-Mobile's US network are experiencing issues with the Nexus One which results in it failing to hold a 3G data connection, frequently dropping down to a 2G EDGE connection - with a significant drop in speed as a result.
The issue doesn't just affect data connections, either: customers are reporting that the Nexus One gets significantly poorer reception for voice calls that other 'phones connected to the same network in the same area - including other HTC manufactured Android-based handsets.
The flaw is thought to be a result of a firmware issue which only raises its head on T-Mobile's specific network - something with Google will have to issue a fix for through the over-the-air updating mechanism built in to the Android platform. Unfortunately for those experiencing the problems, there is no estimate from either company on when such an update might be released.
T-Mobile is asking US customers to provide details of their Nexus One connection issues in the
company forums, promising that "
Google and T-Mobile are investigating this issue and hope to have more information for [customers] soon." Sadly, there is still no sign of a fix for those afflicted with a bad connection.
Any readers here lucky enough to have got their hands on a Nexus One but unlucky enough to be saddled with the T-Mobile connection issues? Share your experiences over in
the forums.

You can buy one today from www.google.com/phones, it will come with a USA charger and you'll get busted at Customs for VAT & Import duty.
Assuming that the OTA update works as planned, I don't think this is much more than an embarrassing hiccup. I do wonder how they managed to release it like this though - and will it be an Android problem or a Nexus One problem?
edit: err too slow :D
Did you have to pay extra due to Customs (VAT & Import duty)? if so how much?
Still, once it was sorted the G1 rocked, and still does. Lovin' it!
Its a nexus problem or tmobile problem, I am running an Acer Android which has similar specs and its flawless though it does run 1.6 not 2.1 like the Nexus.
Would be better if Google could get an independent manufacturer to make them though.
Using it on O2 with no problems whatsoever. Had to set up the sms and data services manually as expected, but easy
enough to find the info on the O2 forums.
Only complaint is its a little bit fingerprint-y
Other than that, peachy
Not correct, It comes with a UK mains adaptor and a usb cable that can also charge the phone.
Import duty may apply, I'm still waiting to see if i get hit. It's usually a bill that arrives a few days later.
If you root, you can use apps2sd, or you can wait for Google to release their update to allow that (they said they were going to allow it when they announced the N1).
Keep us updated, will be getting one if i can get away without paying extra
sweet, i'll pick one up as soon as can confirm total cost
Delivered by DHL , not fedex who ALWAYS charge import tax....
dude its been 9hours lol how is it? import duty/vat?
To busy playing with his new phone no doubt lol
Stop having a life already and come back to post so the rest of us can have some fun hehe
No sign of the usual international waybill on the outside of the box so no decleration of electronic goods or otherwise. So maybe , just maybe no import tax......
