Mod of the Year 2008 Winner Announced

Mod of the Year 2008 Winner Announced

Chiaroscuro by Nick Falzone is the Mod of the Year 2008 Winner!

Our third Mod of the Year competition is over and out of fifteen excellent entries there can always be only one winner. Unlike the rest of the field, from day one there has been literally no competition for the top result, and with a large 15.2% of the votes, Nick Falzone with Chiaroscuro wins the bit-tech Mod of the Year 2008 competition!

In second place, Apple Core Duo by Cyprio rides in shortly behind, and The Reflection HTPC by Magnus Persson closes into third place but only after plenty of place changes between third to sixth place throughout the competition!

A full run down of the results is as follows:
1 Chiaroscuro by Nick Falzone 15.2%
2 Apple Core Duo by Cyprio 9.3%
3 The Reflection HTPC by Magnus Persson 8.8%
4 Battlestar Galactica Case Mod by Boddaker 8.3%
5 Cosmos Skulltrail by Coolmiester 7.8%
    6 MCE2.0 by Sleepstreamer 7.6%
    7 FiveWood by cc3d 6.2%
    8 Rogue by craigbru 6.0%
9 Team Fortress 2 Sentry Mod by Ton Khowdee 6.0%
10 Tiny HTPC by ichessblumen 5.6%
    11 Sinuskurve by Sonnenschein 5.4%
12 Eco-Intel Mod by Planet Express Klan 3.7%
13 Bloo Balls by Cheapskate 3.5%
    14 Paperazzi by acey 3.3%
    15 C&C GDI War Factory by milotic858 3.2%
You can see for yourselves how close the voting was - with Rogue by Craigbru and the TF2 Mod by Ton just one single vote apart at the very end, and with just four hours to go before the close of the competition several people had identical votes or within a few of each other as well making for a really close competition. The BSG Mod by Boddaker rose from a mid-table start in 7th to narrow in very closely to 3rd place, but couldn't quite pip Magnus to the post, and despite the Cosmos Skulltrail starting strongly in third place, it had unfortunately dropped to fifth just a few days ago.

Well, congratulations from all of the bit-tech team! Nick walks away with a massive prize pool, which includes the following:

Congrats to all the winners!! Though I hadn't followed the top three winners, I was a big fan of the BSG mod. Was hoping it would win mod of the year.

Id like to send out a huge thanks to Bit-tech and all who voted for me. I am very happy with the third place because i honestly didnt think that id get top three finish with so many amazing mods in the running. Coming in third in a modding contest on bit tech is a huge honor because this truly is the home of the best modders in the world. And once again....

THANKS!!!!!

Haha, when don't Nick's mods come out first?

I really didn't appreciate having to register for a newsletter in order to vote - that was kind of cheesy. Oh wells.

And congrats to all the winners!

I have to send a huge thanks out to everyone who voted for me in this competition (and who voted and general) and I really am grateful of the support that everyone has given my mods. I also have to thank the bit-tech staff and the bit-tech community for once again making this the best place for modding in the world.

That's cos they are drop dead gorgeous. :)

A HUGE thanks to Bit Tech for their on going support for the modding community and of course to everyone who supported AppleCoreDuo over the past two years and voted. A victory for 'bedroom modding' i think! :)

Have a great 2009 all.

Wow, 4th place! Ah well, maybe next year they will offer prizes for the top 5 lol. Thanks for all the votes everyone! :-)

Yay! A worthy winner if there ever was one! [In my opinion at least ;)]

I knew it would be tough to hit top 3 rankings this year but I'm a bit sad about how Sinuskurve finished. Well, another year another chance for everyone. :)

And who knows, maybe once I moved to Austria and settled down for longer than 10 months I might even start my own mod. Because all those mods involved in the MotY [and those hundreds 'just' lurking around on the forums] are inspiring.

Congratulations to all who won! And all who took part in general!

Being considered one of the top mods on the planet is a huge honor! I never thought my lowly P4 would make it this far. Thanks, Bit Tech!

You're welcome. It wasn't really only two, right? I liked your project becuase you're very resourceful and work wonders with what you've got. That, and you don't mind discussing in detail the techniques, methods, and tools that you use.
