Futuremark holds Comic Competition

Futuremark holds Comic Competition

Make Furball laugh and you might win some serious prizes over at Futuremark.

If you've ever been told you're a funny guy and not necessarily had the word "looking" anywhere in the sentence, you might want to read up on this.

Futuremark, the company behind the ever-popular 3DMark benchmark testing suite, is holding a contest to make a comic strip. The winner will be judged on originality and humour, and one could expect that he or she might get a leg up into the world of web comics.

Of course, what you really all want to know is what toys are being offered as prizes. The contest is being co-sponsored by Alienware, so the top prize is none too shabby.
  • First Place - Alienware Area51 MX5750 notebook
  • Second Place - Alienware Ozma 7 Headphones
  • Third Place - Alienware Odyssey Backpack

To enter, just head on over to the official contest webpage and download the template.

The prompt is free, so you can make your comic about anything that you want. Entries must be submitted in JPEG format and need to be received by December 22, 2006. So get drawing!

Got a thought on the contest? Tell us about it in our forums.

Well, I did my packing, and my wii-motes have run out of battery and I don't have a car to go get more batteries, so I now have time to enter the comp. Yay!
PS. jpg can look okayish on maximum quality. Personally though; PNG all the way!

For a webcomic it can't be a bad choice - every webcomic I've read uses JPEG on the site.

JPGs are the best choice for photos - nothing else. I guess the point is that if they require you to use JPG format, then that's just another person who thinks they know about graphics format when they don't. I guess that's just another of my pet hates though: people who think they know best when they don't. Hmm, I could make a good comic strip from this :D
