Cooler Master has revealed some more details about the Black bundle we revealed last month.
Cooler Master has revealed the second part of its exclusive limited edition "Black" bundle today, a modified Hyper Z600 "Black" CPU cooler.
The new cooler not only sports a new top-to-bottom black appearance - a first from Cooler Master - but the company claims that it has made some modifications that now make the Hyper Z600 "Black" is "
the best performing CPU cooler on the market."
When we
reviewed the original Hyper Z600 in October, we found that it was the highest-performing cooler we've tested with two fans in a push/pull arrangement. However, with just one fan, the Z600 was sat very much in the mid-table.
Cooler Master has supplied a single 120mm temperature-controlled fan with the Z600 Black, which uses a PWM to switch between 800 and 2,200 RPM depending on CPU load, and an airflow cover - or shroud - that is designed to minimise any airflow loss by forcing air over the fins.
The unit will only be available as part of the limited run of 500 "Black" bundles, which includes the
Cosmos Black Edition case we've already talked about. Cooler Master says this new bundle will be released on December 11th, so there's not much longer to wait if you're looking to get your hands on one of these limited edition bundles.
What do you think about the changes to the cooler? Let us know in
the forums.
yes but bizarrely enough black, and matte black especially, also radiate heat away the best as well!
black TRANSFERS heat the best. so if you need to cool something down, paint it black, if you need to warm it up, paint it black.
Don't think it'll fit in my laptop though... :D
Wow... that's some claim there. I mean, they've only got three different flavours of the Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 to beat (normal, black, all copper... if you count the all copper given that it was a limited run)... wonder if they're right, or if it's just the normal marketing hype? My guess is the latter.
If you want to get precise about it, black color only affects radiation emission and absorption. Both get amplified by matt black. Because the cooler is warmer than the surrounding air, emission wins the day and the cooler gets cooled
I'm thinking it's the latter too since we've only tested the TRUE with a single 120mm fan, whereas the Hyper Z600 only topped out performance charts with TWO fans in push/pull.

What does matter is the 2,200RPM fan. Not a low-noise sink, then. :|
Hot climates=sunshine, which means getting tan. Cold climates usually mean less sunshine, or most skin is covered, so most cold-climate people are light-skinned since they don't always get much sun.
on-topic. I don't pay over $40 for a HS+F, usually, sorry CM. :P.
Plus, I'm not having over 800g hanging on my mobo.
Why not just paint the original one black, and save yourself some money?
but that said i recon bit-tech definitely needs to review this bundle ASAP
If you guys look at the bottom-left pic they've blocked off the gaps between the heatsink and cooler.
Which is in part why I still have yet to mount a cooler I bought almost a year ago yet...
Got my hands on a Thermaltake Tower 112 Pure Cu for under $20. Thing weighs in at close to 1lb or so. I've got the plans in my head to modify my motherboard tray, so that the weight transfers to that, rather than the motherboard, but I'm still worried about the thing breaking loose and dropping...
Maybe I'll use some wire to brace it internally (ghetto, but I don't have a window, so only I'd know about this...)
