Konami is currently looking into making an Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was an important, big game for the PlayStation 3 and the fact that it's
only on the PlayStation 3 has definitely helped boost Sony's sales...but it's also upset a lot of fans and potentially limited Konami's sales.
Now, Konami's Yoshitaka Arai has commented (again) on whether or not gamers can expect to see an Xbox 360 version of
Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360 while at the Tokyo Game Show.
Interestingly though, whereas before Konami has played down the rumours and said that they weren't even thinking about it, the company has now 'fessed up and admitted that it could be on the cards.
"
The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 is quite high," said Arai, stating the bleeding obvious.
"
It is something we are currently looking in to."
Of course, the fact that Konami is planning on maximising their sales and making an Xbox 360 version of the game isn't really all that surprising. The developer would be stupid to ignore all the money that could be made from an Xbox 360 port. What is surprising though is that Konami's exclusivity deal with Sony would even allow such a thing, as the game has been a bit stock-shifter for Sony.
Would you be interested in an Xbox 360 version of
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, or is it all getting a bit long in the tooth for you? Let us know what you think in
the forums.
As for the PS3, the cost isn't the problem it's the lack of titles. If you add up all the xbox addons to equal a PS3 you end up spending the same amount of money. The wireless adaptor its self is $80.
Except you're wrong. Resistance 2 isn't on Xbox, Infamous isn't on Xbox, Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection isn't on Xbox, Warhawk isn't on Xbox, Uncharted...let me stop. This was obiously a joke post right?
Go back to Kotaku with that kind of misinformation Deadwolf.
Because it's a much more solid, reliable bit of kit than the 360, has better media capabilities IMO and *does* have good games -- you just happen to prefer the 360.
Don't even bring the Wii into this - the Wii is a kid/family machine. The PS3/360 are in a different league...
If it makes it to 360, IF, it will be a shoddy port at best, probably out sourced, and most likely on a stupid number of discs akin to MGS on the PsOne.
Yes, but not everybody actually wants the wireless adapter.
As for MGS, never really been interested in it.
Money > All, these companies have no qualms about lying to us in order to push the game. Chances are if they announced it might be coming to 360 before the PS3 version came out it would probably hurt Son'ys sales of the ps3 and their own sales of the PS3 version. Now that it has been out for a while they can safely announce it'll prolly come to the 360.
Meh to all of this anyway. It wont sell that great IF it comes out on 360 anyways. Just just previous games for PS2 when they were ported to Xbox.
This is a different situation though. PS2 had a much larger install base than the xbox, but in this generation the 360 has a much bigger install base than the ps3. A lot of people have been demanding this for the 360, I think it will sell pretty well.
It's not a case of being anti-sony as, if we were anti-sony then we wouldn't do any PS3 coverage at all, it's a case of why would we pay to review a game that none of us want when our reader shows that the only the tiniest of fractions of our readers actually own a PS3? If Sony won't support us enough to send us review samples then we're not exactly going to go out and buy them just to review them. Doing so puts us in a journalistic loophole anyway, changing the review from an impartial review to a 'Justify your purchase' article.
I understand that with the review, but in general, most readers can find more information from user threads under the Gaming sub-forums for PS3 than they can find under your Headlines and Industry Bulletins sections. I'm not raising any questions though, just saying. If anyone has issues with you guys it should be taken to the Feedback section.
Would be nice if Sony would support you, as it makes it seem like you guys hate PS3 or something as there is very few reviews for it. And I know that more and more people on this board are buying PS3's so it'd make even more sense for Sony to send you games. Guess they are putting that $60 aside to keep PS3 costs down.
For those that complain about a bad port over to the xbox 360 - From what it seems, its the playstation 3 thats actually hard to code for and if Hideo Kojima managed to get it that good on the ps3 - There is no reason he couldnt do it for the xbox 360 - From my experience, the playstation 3 has had the bad ports (pro evo 08 anyone?) where as it has been virtually flawless on other consoles (xbox 360)
If MGS4 came out on 360 it'd be lucky to get 2M I think. Remember MGS series is very much a niche series. Not a huge ginormous fanbase like other games .
Just like Bioshock for PS3 will be lucky to get to 1 - 1.5Million.
The others might have been niche, but I believe MGS4 to be far more friendly than the older ones... The MGS series has been becoming progressively easier as they go on, mostly due to its technical progression.
MGS1: Top down view only, unless if something with a scope is equipped, or if you're in a small enclosed area. Read: you actually use the binoculars.
MGS2: Top down view with the option of going first person to aid in the firing of weapons.
MGS3: Same as MGS2, with the addition of many new close-combat fighting moves, including a couple horribly inbalanced ones. Also, the EZ-GUN. No soliton radar, thankfully.
MGS4: You can basically play the whole thing as a first person shooter, and some of the available weapons are ridiculous.. A musket that can cause tornados?
I was considering selling my Xbox to buy a PS3, for Resistance 2, and MGS4.. but now that this news has arrived, I might just add MGS4 to my shelf of Xbox games. (Halo 3, PGR4)
