Fallout 3 will be available in Europe from October 31st, with a US release a few days before that.

Fallout 3 has been given an official release date now on all platforms, though the bad news is that the game will be launching later in Europe than elsewhere.

While the game will see a multiplatform release on October 28th in the US, us Europeans won't see a release until October 31st...which is a trifle disappointing and may also open the game up to increased piracy as early torrents of the US version hit European servers.

Still, at least in Europe we'll be getting a full and uncensored release unlike the Australians.

Fallout 3 is a sequel to the classic Fallout RPG games from Interplay which were originally released on PC in the nineties. When Interplay fell on hard times however Bethesda worked to salvage the franchise and bought up the rights to a sequel. Though Bethesda has since licensed back the rights to an MMO adaptation to Interplay, the singleplayer rights remain firmly with Bethesda.

The game is set in Washington DC decades after a massive nuclear apocalypse which is heavily inspired by the culture of the 1950s - expect lots of ray-guns, mutants and classic jazz. Players take the role of a survivor who has hidden in an underground vault and must venture into the world above in search of their father.

Three days?

Hardly a massive span of time.

This game sounds like it`s gonna be like the STALKER games......

If it falls on the right side of RPG it'll rock.

Stalker does seem to have started a trend. Watching the previews for Far Cry 2, Borderlands and this, they all give off that same vibe. Its probably that the technology has got to the point where these open and largely non-linear games are possible and stalker just got the first punch in.

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking 3 weeks not 3 days. Given it's been years since the last one, three days I aint gonna mind.

Fallout came 10 years before STALKER. Although STALKER and Bioshock are great, they are based on FO. Mix bioshock with stalker and you have FO.

Still a long time to wait

Day before my birthday. I feel special.

3 days is absolutely nothing. anyone who uses delays as a reason to pirate are just lieing to themselves... 3 weeks would be different, but 3 days is totally acceptable.

but i have to ask... if theres only a 3 day delay. why not just wait the extra 3days stateside, to mitigate pirating anyway? if not for that reason, then to stop the staggered release idiots that usually moan forever about nothing. of whom i am one.

Is it more to do with release days than anything else. for example games usually get released on a Thur/Fri here, when are they released in the US? TBH i can see the rates at which this is downloaded being huge but i also think many of those downloaders will also want there boxed version on Friday when its released officially.
Quote Demon Cleaner 21st August 2008, 16:51
Like 3 days will make any difference to the number of people who will download it - it will get leaked on the net before the US date.

Well here in Canada (and probably the states) most new games/cds/dvds come out on tuesdays. I know I am waiting for Ultra Beatdown to come out on tuesday :) So there you go, Tuesday the 28th and Friday the 31st.

I know many people who does that, download a game they have already pre-ordered and be able to play it a couple of days before they pick up their real copy...
But in the end i think those three delayed days will hurt Bethesda, couldn't they put Fallout on Steam and release it simultaneously all over the world? This is the year 2008, that can't be a real problem.

Interesting. I think I may have to pick this up, though I'll probably wait 6 months or so.
