Pete Hines says that it is impossible to cut down Fallout 3 into a demo and he's not going to release the full game as a demo...
Bethesda Softworks' Pete Hines has said that there will be no demo for
Fallout 3, according to a report on Eurogamer.
Hines explained that because
Fallout 3 has been built as one thing, "
there's no way to portion off a section and have it stand on its own without putting the whole game in the demo, which we're just not going to do."
He then went onto say that because of the open, free-roaming nature of the game, a demo would
prohibitively limit the experience. "
And it doesn't really capture the fun of a game like an Elder Scrolls or a Fallout, where you can go where you want and do what you want. So no demo, sorry."
This will no doubt disappoint those who were hoping to try the game before buying it because of reservations they have with the game's direction.
Fallout 3 is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game that is expected to hit retail shelves later this year. For more information about the game, please check out our preview of the game. And while we wait for the game’s release, discuss these developments

Yeah, people who know Fallout will probably buy it anyway, and people who don't will buy it because it's from the same guys as Oblivion, they're going to have no problems selling it.
Fallout 1 had an awesome demo. An entirely custom designed area - a town not featured in the full game with various quests, at least five endings and an entirely satisfying feel. I played the demo for it at least twenty times.
Yeah the demo was a lot of fun, at the time I was a young kid and my mom wouldn't buy it for me so I played the demo a lot until the game came down to like 15$.
The demo for fallout 1 sounds awesome, it would be cool if they did something like that. But then, have bethesda ever released demos? I don't remember any for oblivion or morrowind.
Take 'Pirates of the Caribean' a terrible name choice yes, and terribly terribly buggy, but add the Build13 mod and you can see what this came really set out to achieve.........let's just hope that Bethesda dont only make a fantastic framework this time though.
