Infogrames need Alone in the Dark to sell big time if they want to revive Atari at all.

Infogrames CEO David Gardner has told Reuters that he thinks the new Alone in the Dark game will sell between two and three million copies this year once the game, which has been repeatedly delayed, launches this June.

"We want to stop losing money," he told Reuters. "This management team's number one goal is to get a business plan together that gets us to a break-even level."

Gardner was close-lipped on how exactly he plans to generate so many sales for the game which, despite being part of an established brand, has still gathered mixed reactions from gaming communities thus far.

Our bet though is that former Sony bossman Phil Harrison, who recently switched sides and joined Infograme, will play a big part though.

Alone in the Dark is planned for a global release this June on the PC, Wii, PS2 and Xbox 360. A PlayStation 3 version will be following shortly afterwards.

Are you excited about getting another Alone in the Dark game, or has it all been downhill since that awful Christian Slater movie? Let us know what you think in the forums.

The first alone in the dark was great, because it was dark. It uses absurd amount of four 3,25 floppies! High density ones!

The point is, the other alone in the dark games were "pants"... I really hope they bring AitD out of the limbo...

the movie was awful.

I can normally sit through a bad movie for sheer interest as to why it is so bad but this went off after 20 minutes

I agree, the movie was awful. I consider it one of my top 10 worst DVD purchases. That says quite a bit when you have around 400 DVDs.
