Samsung has announced it will be launching software to play Second Life on smartphones.

Samsung has revealed at the CTIA wireless event this week in Las Vegas that it is launching a new software which enables users to play Second Life on their smartphones.

Second Life is the free-to-play MMO driven by user generated content and filled mostly with weird colourful things we don't understand and companies who for some reason think it is the only place an online presence can be properly established.

Speaking to the KoreaTimes, a spokesperson for Samsung said; "We plan to commercialize phones equipped with the innovative wireless mobile solutions possibly from the second half of this year for U.S. consumers.

Sure, and why not leverage some paradigms and synergise some workflows while you commercialize those innovations, eh?

The software does look pretty swanky admittedly - the app runs in full 3D and lets mobile players communicate with the online community via internet, phone or SMS. Still, the general consensus is that the Second Life fad is pretty much over now, so why Samsung wants to bring it to business users we don't know.

Have you ever played Second Life? What games do you play on your mobile? Let us know in the forums.

i like the girl holding the phone, but not the game.

the ONLY time i've even heard of second life is when i went to IBM in Hursley, where they demonstrated giving a lecturing via second life.

the game i want to see ported onto mobile phones is games such as Audiosurf or Geometry wars, those would be great.

My first life (AFK) is good enough, why would I need to try and escape it by going into Second Life?

I tried second life a few times over the last few years. and each time the downloading and installing of the software lasted longer than the actual time i managed ingame before i became very bored.

I have been using PC's since i was 11 or 12 and have a "natural" ability to use programs and play games without reading the manuals. but with second life i just didnt "get it". Maybe i was expecting more than just running round aimlessly but there didnt seem a awful lot to do.
I would compare it with going to a rather large shopping centre with no money

Second life = dull.

Played it with a freind, and all we could find we're all related to porn, nakedness, stripping, dancing, masters and sex slaves.

All in all its boring ( well it was funny pissing people off, but what a dull game! )

Just running around, to run around, sure you can pay for a house and stuff, but its just not a very good looking game, let alone a fun one!

Great. Now 15 year old girls will be able to run their digital brothels during algebra class.

so all those beautiful models i have been talking to are in reality fat men in underwear eating cheetos?

my first life is enough for me, and when a game starts looking more like a chore i tend to leave it behind....
